Burnie City Council is seeking a capable and organised Contracts and Facilities Coordinator to manage a wide range of contracted services that support Council facilities and essential operations across the municipality.
This is a hands-on coordination role that combines contract management, facilities oversight and customer service, with a strong focus on compliance, safety and continuous improvement.About the roleReporting to the Manager Infrastructure Services, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of Council's service contracts and facilities, including:Management of contractors across key service areas such as:Waste managementFacility cleaning and securityHVAC, lifts, fire detection and suppression systemsPumps, solar installations and minor plumbing and electrical worksCoordination of Council's waste management services, including kerbside services, bin registers, illegal dumping initiatives and service improvementsOversight of wastewater treatment system maintenance and complianceEnsuring Council facilities meet legislative, environmental and health and safety requirementsManagement of security systems, keys and FOB accessProcessing and reconciling invoices for utilities and contracted servicesProviding timely, qualified customer service to internal and external stakeholdersSupporting contract development,
tendering and reportingAd hoc trouble shooting of day-to-day issues relating to Council facilities and infrastructureParticipation in the after-hours management support roster with guidance and supportYou will work closely with contractors, colleagues and the community to ensure services are delivered efficiently, safely and to a high standard.What you will bringA relevant certificate qualification and or significant experience in a similar roleDemonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage competing prioritiesSound understanding of workplace health and safety responsibilitiesStrong communication skills with a practical, customer-focused approachProven experience building effective stakeholder relationshipsSolid computer skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn Council systemsExcellent time management and coordination skillsConstruction Industry White Card or ability to obtainA current driver licenceExperience in local government and knowledge of council operations is desirableWhy join Burnie City CouncilVaried and meaningful work that supports essential community servicesA collaborative, supportive team environmentOpportunities to contribute to continuous improvement and sustainability initiativesSecure, full-time employment with Council benefitsAs part of our commitment to safety, the successful candidate will be required to supply a satisfactory National Police Check.
