In this role you will prepare surfaces of vehicles, match and mix colours, and apply paint to restore vehicles to a high-quality factory finish.Key dutiesPrepare surfaces to be painted by hand or machine, including removing rough spots and sanding surfacesMask areas not to be painted with tape and paperColour match and mix paints (by eye or using computer colour-matching technology) to achieve correct shadeApply primer and finishing coats using spray guns,



and sand surfaces between coatsTouch up paintwork and apply polish to vehiclesRemove masking papers and wax/polish finished paintworkPaint signs or artwork on vehicles as requiredTreat vehicles with rust-proofing chemicalsMaintain a clean, protected spray booth and work area in line with workplace health and safety requirementsLiaise with panel beaters, workshop supervisors and customers regarding repair/paint scope and timelinesSkills and experienceCertificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology (or equivalent), or at least 3 years' relevant experienceSound knowledge of spray-painting equipment and colour-matching techniquesStrong attention to detail and colour perceptionCurrent driver's licence (adjust/remove as required)Ability to work as part of a team in a busy workshop environment
