You'll contribute to research, project delivery, stakeholder engagement and advocacy across a range of portfolios including youth, multicultural, homelessness and disability.In this role, you will:Support the research, development, implementation and evaluation of community capacity projects and initiativesEngage with local services, organisations, community groups and Council teams to better understand community priorities and wellbeing challengesAssist in preparing reports, submissions, advocacy documents and recommendations that inform decision makingCoordinate community events, sector activities and capacity-building programsBuild and maintain productive relationships with community stakeholders and strategic partnersSupport grant applications, reporting and acquittals, contributing to successful project outcomesContribute to other initiatives that strengthen collaboration across the community services sectorWho we are (And why you'll love us)The Community Capacity Team works to strengthen the social infrastructure that enables communities,

We're looking for someone who enjoys working across a diverse range of projects and stakeholders, is highly relational, can work independently but thrives in collective projects and is deeply committed to social justice.You'll bring:A qualification in social science, community development, social policy, cultural studies or a related fieldStrong written communication skills, with the ability to research, analyse information and prepare clear reports and recommendationsExcellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentA collaborative and relationship-focused approach,



with a genuine interest in engaging with diverse communities and stakeholdersA growth mindset, curiosity and a desire to contribute to meaningful social impact initiativesExperience in community engagement, research, project delivery or government environments will be highly regardedThe must-know bitsYou will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.RequirementsTertiary qualification (or close to completion) in social science, cultural studies, social policy, community development or a relevant areaSound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applicationsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organisation and time management skillsExperience in conducting research and interpreting, analysing and presenting data and informationQualifications and/or experience in community engagement (e.g. IAP2 Certificate in Public Participation or similar)Previous experience working in a government contexApplicants must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this position.Council is a Child Safe Organisation.
