This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to take ownership of mechanical design projects from concept through to manufacture.
As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a critical role in translating customer requirements and engineering concepts into detailed technical drawings and specifications that guide our manufacturing processes.
Your work will directly impact the quality, functionality, and manufacturability of our products, making this a strategically important role within our organisation.Key responsibilitiesDevelop detailed mechanical designs and engineering drawings using CAD software, ensuring compliance with industry standards and manufacturing requirementsCollaborate with clients, project managers,



and manufacturing teams to understand project requirements and translate them into comprehensive design specificationsCreate technical documentation, including assembly drawings, component specifications, and material schedulesPerform design analysis and calculations to ensure structural integrity, functionality, and feasibility of mechanical componentsReview and optimise designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance optimisationCommunicate design concepts and modifications clearly to stakeholders and production teamsMaintain accurate design records and documentation throughout the project lifecycleProvide technical support during manufacturing and implementation phases, troubleshooting design-related issues as they ariseStay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and updates to relevant engineering standardsWhat we're looking forFormal qualification in mechanical engineering, engineering design, or a related disciplineProficiency with CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent), with the ability to produce detailed technical drawingsDemonstrated experience in mechanical design, with a solid understanding of design principles,



material properties, and manufacturing processesStrong knowledge of engineering standards and drawing conventions (ISO, AS/NZS standards)Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in technical documentationAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst meeting deadlinesStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teamsProblem-solving mindset with the ability to think creatively and propose innovative design solutionsExperience in metal forming, manufacturing, or precision engineering is highly desirableKnowledge of GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is advantageousWhat we offerAt Bright Metal Forms PTY Ltd, we are committed to supporting the career development and wellbeing of our team members.
