ABOUT THE ROLENew Chapter is expanding our team of dedicated, passionate, and committed Support Workers to provide direct support to participants with complex support needs and children involved in out of home care.Support Workers will be self-motivated individuals with a strong values-based approach.
They will also need to demonstrate a problem-solving approach with the ability to think on their feet under pressure.Support Workers will report directly to the Team Leaders and/or Program Experience Leaders.
They will work closely with other Support Workers and Team Leaders within the team.Support Workers work with children and adults all over Hobart and greater region including Huonville, Current Norfolk, Brighton and everywhere in between and will need to demonstrate the ability to travel.All positions will be offered as casual with the potential for permanency after probation period is completed.WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for somebody who;Is a self-motivated individual with a 'can do' attitude and willingness to learnDemonstrates a problem-solving approach with the ability to think on their feet under pressureShows their ability to be a creative thinkerPassionate about providing high quality supports with a person-centered approachA real desire to make a difference to the lives of people living with a disability.A trauma-informed and child-centered approach to supportAbility to provide emergency or short notice supports when required, demonstrating flexibility, reliability and a commitment to meeting participant needsREQUIREMENTS THAT ARE A MUST;Flexible and adaptable in approachUnderstanding of NDIS and NDIS Quality & SafeguardsUnderstanding of Child Safeguarding practicesRights to work in AustraliaCurrent Driver's licenseCurrent Working with Vulnerable People Registration (or ability to obtain)Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain)NDIS Worker ScreeningAssist Clients with Medications and Recognise Healthy Body SystemsCurrent First Aid and CPR certificateExperience working with complex care individuals that may display behaviors of concernExperience working with children and young people engaged with Child Safety Services, including providing trauma informed supportsMust have extensive availability, including sleepovers, community activities, weekend shifts, and other varied supportsRelated Qualifications (e.g.: Certificate in Individual Support, Aged Care and/or Home and Community Services, Certificate IV in Youth Work, etc.)Generalized Epilepsy TrainingDECYP Child Safety TrainingPEG CredentiallingWe Promote Work-life balanceFurther information about who we are at New Chapter can be found on our website - New Chapter Support
