Liberty Foundation Australia Limited – Wyong NSW32 hours per week, until 30 April **** (fixed term contract)*There are two roles being offered as a job share, working either mornings or afternoons across five days, including SaturdayWe are offering a unique prospect to work with ex-research animals in a well-equipped and innovative sanctuary setting, providing care and support while they await adoption into permanent homes as pets and companions.The role is based at Wyong (Central Coast NSW), less than an hour north of Sydney and a few minutes' walk from Wyong train station.
The Liberty Adoption Centre is the first of its kind in Australia, and is home to up to 120 small animals – rabbits, guinea pigs rats and mice – formerly use in research facilities.The role is providing hands‐on care and management of the adoption centre operations including supervision and support of volunteers working on-site.The principal duties and responsibilities of the role include management of:animal care including feeding, housing maintenance, behaviour support and healthcareprocedures compliance and reviews/updates of procedures where requireddata on operations including individual animal files,



incident logs etc.volunteer workers onsite including direction and supervisionsite visits from members of the public and potential adopters or foster carers.The Animal Care Manager will be the designated first aid officer onsite and manager of emergency and evacuation procedures.The role will report to, and be expected to provide support to, the General Manager with activities such as communications, events, training sessions, adoptions, transport, procedural matters, presentations and other tasks.The Animal Care Manager will provide monthly reports to the Board of Directors and attend meetings when required.No formal tertiary qualifications is required but preference will be given to those with qualifications and/or experience in:animal facilities management - research sector, not-for-profit, council or shelters/sanctuariessmall animal veterinary practiceanimal daycare or boarding servicesanimal training and behaviour support.The successful candidate must:be vaccinated for tetanus (within the last 10 years)have a current drivers licence and registered/insured vehiclehave current first aid training (within the last 12 months) from a reputable training organisationpreferably not have allergies to rodents or rabbits.
* Renewal/extension of the contract will be dependent on ongoing funding of the adoption centre operations.
