Youth Disability Team Leader — Children & Young People | GSL: A Good Start to LifeAs a Team Leaderwith GSL, you'll combine hands‐on support work with leadership and mentoring responsibilities.
You'll lead a dedicated team, promote a positive culture of care, and receive ongoing professional development and mentoring to support your own career journey.
You will be support children and young people aged 0–18 with complex physical, intellectual and mental health needs in their home life, learning and community inclusion.
You'll be a consistent, trusted presence in the life of a young person who needs exactly that — someone who shows up, holds the line with warmth, and helps them build the skills and confidence to be a valued part of their community.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Culture: Lead and motivate the team to uphold a positive, trauma‐informed culture focused on quality care and positive outcomes for young people.
Organise and lead team meetings, facilitate communication, and coordinate shift coverage.Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all team documentation, case notes, and incident reports are completed accurately and on time, in line with organisational policies, child safety standards, and regulatory requirements.Support & Engagement: Provide compassionate, person‐centred support that promotes emotional wellbeing, safety, and development.
Model positive behaviour and proactive engagement with young people.Life Skills & Independence: Empower young people to build essential life skills and independence through structured routines and practical learning, including cooking, personal care, budgeting, and daily living tasks.You're the right person if...You're reliable,
emotionally grounded and don't rattle when things get hardYou hold or are working toward a Certificate IV in Disability Support, Youth Work or a related fieldYou hold a Working with Children Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card), current First Aid and CPR certificates, and a minimum P2 driver's licenceYou hold or are willing to apply for an LCS2Why GSLWe exist because not all children in our community have a good start to life — and we're doing something about it.
