Fleet & Yard Operations Manager – Hands-On Mechanical FocusLocation: St Marys, NSW, with oversight of North Coast and South Coast operationsHours: 6am-4pm Monday – FridayEmployment Type: Full-timeAbout the RoleWe are looking for a practical, hands on and mechanically minded Fleet & Yard Operations Managerto take ownership of key fleet, yard, equipment and operational activities across our portable toilet, liquid waste and temporary fencing business.
This is not a desk-based management role.We need someone who enjoys being on the ground, solving problems and getting things done.
You might come from transport, waste, equipment hire, civil construction, fleet operations, plant and machinery, workshop operations or a similar hands on environment.You do not need to be a qualified mechanic, but you must have strong mechanical aptitude and be comfortable troubleshooting issues with trucks, pumps, hoses, fittings and equipment.
One minute you may be helping a driver diagnose a vacuum pump issue, the next coordinating a truck repair, checking stock, inspecting a yard, organising a load out or assessing returned equipment for damage.If you are practical, organised, mechanically minded and enjoy variety, this could be the role for you.Key ResponsibilitiesFleet, Trucks & Mechanical SupportTroubleshoot and help diagnose operational and mechanical issues, including pumps, trucks, blockages, tyres, hoses and fittingsCoordinate minor truck repairs, including lights, body and tray repairsCoordinate major repairs and emergency breakdowns with internal and external repair providersManage and maintain an action plan for truck inspections, repairs and preventative maintenancePrepare trucks for induction and conduct induction inspectionsCoordinate after-hours access for drivers,



mechanics and emergency operational requirementsPumps & EquipmentTroubleshoot and coordinate repairs to vacuum pumps, water pumps, hoses and fittingsCarry out or coordinate minor equipment repairsIdentify when specialist or external repairs are requiredSupport the ongoing maintenance and operational readiness of equipmentYard OperationsConduct regular yard inspections and provide reports and action plansCoordinate yard staff and daily operational dutiesMaintain high standards of yard presentation, safety and housekeepingEnsure equipment and stock are organised and ready for operational requirementsManage stock control across all locationsConduct regular stock counts of temporary fencing, toilets and associated equipmentCoordinate operational purchases and suppliesManage fencing returns, including sorting panels, blocks, clamps and scrap materialsManage toilet returns, including inspecting condition, assessing damage and preparing repair or damage informationLoading, Deliveries & Operational SupportCoordinate and assist with loadups and unloads of temporary fencing, portable toilets and subcontractor equipmentAssist with specialised ute deliveries as requiredSupport portable toilet repairs, washing and pumping when operationally requiredProvide hands on operational support during busy periodsFill in for drivers where appropriately licensed and required, including liquid waste,

Solid practical experience and mechanical aptitude are highly valued.Licence RequirementsA current driver's licence is essential.A Heavy Rigid or Heavy Combination licence would be highly regarded, particularly given the requirement to provide operational driving support when needed.Why Join Us?
