Ecologist - Biodiversity Project Officer

Koala Farmland Fund (KFF) is growing fast, and we're looking for a Biodiversity Project Officer who wants to be part of something special.
We are looking for a practical, commercially minded Biodiversity Project Officer to help deliver biodiversity offset projects across a growing Queensland property portfolio.
This is a hands‐on role for someone who enjoys working across ecology, project management, land stewardship, compliance, stakeholder engagement and field‐based environmental work.
Work with one of Queensland's leading deliberate suppliers of biodiversity offsets.

ABOUT US
Koala Farmland Fund purchases land in Queensland to develop environmental income streams, including biodiversity offsets, carbon credits and renewable project opportunities.
Since launching in ****, KFF has grown across multiple funds and properties and works with major residential and renewable energy developers.
KFF is managed by Upscale Funds Management, a for‐profit environmental fund manager focused on creating investable, climate‐resilient agriculture that is positive for investors and the environment.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Koala Farmland Fund General Manager, you will help plan,



coordinate and deliver biodiversity offset projects across KFF properties.
As part of a growing business, the role will suit someone flexible, self‐motivated and comfortable working across multiple business units.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Review proposed Offset Management Plans and liaise with clients and consultants through the approval process.
Complete annual compliance monitoring and reporting for approved offset areas.
Develop, implement and maintain offset property management plans, including pest, weed, fire and livestock management plans.
Perform occasional ecological field work, including site assessments, weed and pest surveys, and flora and fauna surveys.
Manage approved Offset Management Plans to support compliance and effective workload planning across properties and offset areas.
Liaise with the General Manager and Farm Manager on operational planning, budgeting and execution.
Support property searches and assessments for future biodiversity offset opportunities.
Assist with regulatory stakeholder relationships and keep up to date with relevant Queensland and EPBC policy settings.
Support client development, industry engagement and biodiversity projects across the wider Upscale group.
ABOUT YOU




You will be someone who is practical, detail‐focused and comfortable working in a growing business where priorities can shift.
You will bring initiative, resilience and a genuine interest in biodiversity, agriculture and land stewardship.
We are looking for someone with:
Tertiary qualifications in ecology, botany, environmental science, environmental management or a related field.
At least three years of field‐based ecology experience.
Experience with biodiversity offsets, preferably including Offset Management Plans.
Strong understanding of Queensland and EPBC offset legislation and regulations.
Experience or interest in ecological land restoration and agriculture.
Strong technical report writing, project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
A current Class C drivers licence.
