The Manager, Health and Safety Operations, leads a statewide team providing work health and safety consultancy and operational services to support the implementation and maintenance of the QCS safety management system and to mature the safety culture and capability.
The role also works collaboratively with management teams, to reshape and refine the service delivery approach of health and safety roles located in correctional centres across Queensland, as part of a centralised management structure.
In this role you will:
Provide effective leadership and direction toastatewideteam to operationalise the effective delivery of health and safetyconsultancyand on-siteservices across the organisation.
Manage the implementationofprograms and initiatives to improve healthandsafety outcomesand mitigate risksin collaboration withother QCS health,safetyand compliance roles.
Positively influence and provide authoritative strategic,tacticaland operationalhealth and safetyadviceand services.
Contribute to the design and delivery ofthe QCS safety management system, including systems for the review, monitoring, measurement,analysisand reporting of WHS performance.
Contribute to the development,implementationand management of theHSWstrategy,frameworkand governanceacross the agency,ensuring compliance andfacilitatinga continuous improvement safety culture.
Work as an effective high-level business partner,providingcredible advice to senior leaders on workplace health and safety.
Promote an uplift ofWHScapability byfacilitatingopportunities for learning and consideration offuture skillsrequiredto deliver programs,
enabling increased capability and agility across QCS.
Ensure ongoing employee management and performance conversations, empower employees to improve, todemonstrateownership and responsibility, to deliver on commitments and conduct themselves in line with QCS values.
Engage instrategic partnerships across all levels of managementto build knowledge, understanding and health and safety leadershipcapabilityto ensure a 'safer and healthier workplaces' mindset and culture is achieved.
Contribute to the design and delivery ofintegratedand coordinatedprograms,servicesand solutions.
Effectively liaise with internal and external clients,stakeholdersand other parties to deliver services that meet organisationalrequirements.
Actively work in collaboration and consultation with central agencies, regulatory authorities, relevant qualified and peak industry bodies, and other external stakeholders to build QCS'sand HSW's body of evidence on WHS in correctional settings.
Lead and/or conduct research into WHS issues todetermineapplications, feasibility, cost impacts, and broader implications and presentappropriate recommendationsfor various audiences.
Effectively navigate a complex environment of organisational transformation and performance accountability.
Prepare high level correspondence including briefing notes, submissions,reportsand information reports.
