The IMEA Group of Companies including Control Panels Australia, Infinity Fire Protection, Prime Pumps, and Prime Water Australia, has a career opportunity available for a motivated and results driven Graduate to join our fantastic team.
Our role would suit a recent engineering graduate or a student nearing the end of their degree.
We are looking for candidates with an Electrical and Mechatronic or similar engineering degree, but we also welcome applicants who simply enjoy working with their hands, solving problems and learning technical skills.
We offer flexible hours during semester, full time work during university breaks and genuine long term career progression into engineering, design and R&D.;
Responsibilities
Assist in the development of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using CAD software
Electrical wiring under supervision of a licensed electrician
Select appropriate components such as relays, contactors, circuit breakers, PLCs, and HMI systems
Collaborate with other team members to design control panels that meet client specifications and industry standards
Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the manufacturing process
Support compliance with relevant standards (e.g., AS standards or local regulations)
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers
Assist in creating documentation for projects, including bills of materials (BOMs), test procedures, and user manuals
Research and propose new technologies or methods to improve panel design and manufacturing efficiencyEnsure designs optimize energy consumption, cost, and reliability
Ensure designs align with safety requirements and best practices for electrical systems
Participate in the assembly and testing of control panels, ensuring quality and functionality
Conduct risk assessments for control panel installations and operation
Qualifications
Enrolled in an accredited Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering undergraduate program
A recent recipient of a Bachelor of Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering degree
Strong foundational knowledge of electrical circuits, control systems, and motor starter
Familiarity with CAD software and basic programming languages (e.g., ladder logic)
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
What We Are Looking For
Hands on mechanical/electrical aptitude
Relevant industry experience within Australia will be highly advantageous
Demonstrated commitment to quality and secure work practices
Comfortable with tools and workshop environments
Curious, reliable, and able to follow instructions
Strong problem‐solving mindset and willingness to ask questions
Must be Sydney based
A current Australian drivers licence is vital and a fully available personal vehicle
Be willing to purchase basic hand tools for panel wiring as experience and responsibilities progress
Ideally this is a full time position, however, the hours could be negotiated to accommodate current study requirements or internship for the right candidate.
