We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to take ownership of Pacific Energy's Group tax function.
Reporting to the General Manager - Financial Controller, this standalone role is responsible for managing the Group's tax compliance obligations, tax reporting requirements and providing technical taxation advice across the business.
As the subject matter expert for taxation, you will work closely with business leaders, executive stakeholders, external advisors and the broader finance team to ensure compliance obligations are met while supporting business growth and strategic initiatives.
This role offers a unique blend of core compliance responsibilities and project-based work, making it well suited to a proactive taxation professional who enjoys solving complex problems, identifying opportunities for improvement and working in a growing organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and prepare the Group's taxation compliance activities, including income tax, GST, FBT, BAS and IAS obligations
Provide technical taxation advice and support to finance team and business stakeholders, including preparing and managing tax technical positions and associated documentation
Monitor upcoming changes to taxation legislation and assess potential impacts on the business
Manage R&D; tax incentive claims and assess any value further creation opportunities
Support acquisitions, capital raises and commercial initiatives through tax due diligence processes
Maintain and continuously improve the Group's tax governance framework
Develop and maintain the Group tax fixed asset registers
Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors and regulatory authorities
Support commercial projects, grant applications and broader finance initiatives across the business
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent)
5+ years' experience in taxation within industry and/or professional services
Strong knowledge of Australian tax legislation and compliance requirements
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability
Excellent documentation, problem-solving and communication skills
The ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously
Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the business
