The opportunity
Join the team at Kingfisher Bay Resort on stunning K'gari (Fraser Island).
We are looking for a hands‐on Yardperson / Sewerage Treatment Plant Operator to help keep our island resort grounds, facilities and essential services operating safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
In this varied role, you will support the day‐to‐day presentation and upkeep of the resort's outdoor areas, including gardens, lawns, landscaped spaces and yard areas.
You will also assist with pool testing, water quality monitoring and sewerage treatment plant operations, helping ensure our systems are well maintained and compliant with environmental and regulatory requirements.
This is a permanent part‐time, live‐on island position based at Kingfisher Bay Resort, with staff accommodation available on K'gari at an affordable rate.
Availability is required during peak seasons.
To be successful, you will be physically fit, well presented, a reliable team player and enjoy hands‐on work outdoors.
Key responsibilities
Maintain resort gardens, lawns and landscaped areas to a high standard
Perform daily gardening, mowing, pruning, weeding, fertilising and irrigation duties
Support sustainable landscaping and water‐effective practices
Assist with replanting, mulching and nursery propagation
Conduct daily pool testing and maintain safe water chemistry
Clean and inspect pools, filtration and pump systems, reporting faults as required
Operate and monitor the sewerage treatment plant approximately two days per week
Record water quality data and support preventative maintenance of systems
Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance requirements are met
Support general maintenance tasks and assist trades as required
Oversee waste removal and maintain clean and tidy yard areas
Skills, qualifications and experience
Previous experience in a similar hands‐on grounds, maintenance, landscaping, pool or water treatment role
A valid open driver's licence, including the ability to drive manual vehicles
Water treatment experience, or a willingness to develop capability in this area
A positive, can‐do attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Robust attention to detail, with the ability to record information accurately and follow procedures
Chainsaw ticket desirable
Certificate in Horticulture desirable
