Launch or expand your career in Australia's growing carbon sectorCanopy is seeking a Carbon Project Officer to join our Carbon team on a 12-month fixed-term contract supporting the delivery of carbon project compliance, reporting and audit requirements across our growing portfolio of nature-based carbon projects.This role is well suited to a recent graduate or early career professional looking to build experience in carbon project compliance, reporting and governance.
We also welcome applications from candidates with experience in compliance, administration, records management, environmental consulting support or related fields who are looking to expand their skills and develop a career in the environmental and carbon sector.Working alongside experienced technical specialists, you will play an important role in ensuring carbon projects meet regulatory, contractual and organisational requirements while developing practical skills in carbon project delivery, compliance and reporting.About CanopyCanopy is a leader in nature based carbon solutions, helping landholders, organisations and communities deliver projects that create environmental, social and economic benefits.As part of the Greening Australia group, we work at the intersection of environmental restoration, carbon markets and sustainable land management, delivering projects that create positive outcomes for people, nature and climate.About the roleReporting to the Associate Director, Carbon, you will:Support the preparation and review of carbon project reporting, compliance documentation, and associated evidenceAssist with carbon modelling, data analysis, and technical assessments under the guidance of senior team membersMaintain accurate project records, supporting documentation, and audit trailsSupport the preparation of mapping products, technical documentation,



and project recordsUndertake research and analysis to support project delivery and continuous improvement initiativesWork collaboratively with internal teams to obtain information required for reporting, compliance, and project deliverySupport audit preparation and compliance assurance activitiesContribute to the development and improvement of systems, templates, and proceduresIdentify and elevate compliance, reporting, or data quality issues as they ariseAbout youYou are organised, detail-focused, and enjoy working with information, documentation, and processes.
You take pride in producing accurate work and have a strong appreciation for compliance, quality, and record-keeping.You may be a recent graduate, an environmental professional in the early stages of your career, or someone with experience in compliance, administration, reporting or records management looking to apply your skills in a growing environmental sector.To be successful, you will bring:Qualifications in environmental science, natural resource management, compliance, regulatory administration or a related field, or equivalent practical experienceStrong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate recordsAn understanding of compliance, regulatory frameworks or reporting requirementsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience preparing, reviewing or coordinating reports, records or technical documentationStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsThe ability to work collaboratively while managing your own workloadExperience using GIS applicationsExperience in environmental consulting, natural resource management, compliance or related industriesFamiliarity with carbon, sustainability or natural capital projectsAt Canopy, you will have the opportunity to:Contribute to projects that deliver real environmental impactGain exposure to Australia's rapidly evolving carbon marketBuild highly transferable skills in compliance, reporting, governance, and environmental project deliveryLearn from experienced technical specialistsWork in a supportive and collaborative team environmentAccess professional development and growth opportunities opportunitiesEnjoy flexible work arrangements
