This is an entry-level role designed for a recent graduate who is eager to learn and build capability across the delivery of industrial process heat and onsite energy projects.You will work under the guidance of senior engineers while gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle—from concept design through construction, commissioning, and handover—supporting safe, reliable, and productive mechanical outcomes for our customers.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Graduate Mechanical Engineer at O'Brien Energy, your key responsibilities will include:Assist senior engineers with mechanical design and engineering support for boiler, steam, hot water, and industrial energy projectsPrepare first-pass engineering calculations under supervision (pipe sizing, pressure drops, pump head, heat loads, equipment selection)Develop and update mechanical documentation including datasheets, schedules, scopes of work, calculation packs, and design notesSupport development and QA of P&IDs;, layouts, isometrics, and plantroom drawings in coordination with draftingParticipate in Safety-in-Design and hazard/risk review processes and maintain engineering action registersProvide site support as required—verify installations against drawings,



capture measurements/photos for as-builts, and respond to technical queriesSupport commissioning activities including check sheets, set-point verification, test result compilation, and troubleshooting supportCompile project handover packs such as O&M; manuals, certification documentation, commissioning records, and as-built drawingsMaintain your graduate development plan/logbook and actively seek feedback and learning opportunitiesQualifications & ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you will ideally have:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)0–2 years of relevant experience (industry placement or internships highly regarded)Strong foundation in mechanical/thermal engineering principlesAbility to perform engineering calculations using Excel or similar toolsExposure to CAD/design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit/Navisworks or similar) favourableStrong attention to detail and commitment to engineering qualityManual Driver's LicenceAustralian work rights and willingness to travel to customer sites as requiredOur ValuesBe a Good HumanPlay as One TeamMake the Complex SimpleEnjoy the JourneyThink like an OwnerWhat We OfferStructured graduate development and mentoring from experienced engineersReal project exposure across design, site delivery, and commissioningLong-term career development within a growing industrial energy specialistSupportive, innovative, and sustainability-focused work environmentOpportunities to build specialised skills in steam, boilers, hydronics, and onsite energy systemsAccess for you and your immediate family to our EAP serviceThis full-time position is based in Heathwood Queensland, with project and site work as required across customer locations.
