Working across teams, you will identify opportunities for process improvement, introduce automation solutions, and lead projects that enhance manufacturing capability.
A unique aspect of the role is that we design and build much of our own specialised manufacturing equipment, giving you the opportunity to influence everything from process design through to machine implementation.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining solid technical expertise with practical problem‐solving and project leadership in a fast‐paced advanced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes that improve production efficiency, quality, and throughput.
Analyse production data and manufacturing metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
Optimise production line layouts, material flow, and operational sequences.
Support the transfer of production lines and manufacturing processes to external manufacturing sites.
Conduct root cause investigations into manufacturing defects and process failures.
Design and develop precision fixtures, tooling, jigs, and test equipment.
Assist in the design, build, commissioning and improvement of specialised manufacturing equipment.

Collaborate closely with product development engineers to ensure products are designed for efficient manufacture and assembly.
Improve material flow, workplace organisation, and inventory management.
About You
You are a proactive engineer who enjoys solving practical manufacturing challenges and delivering measurable improvements through a combination of technical expertise, collaboration, and hands‐on execution.
You will ideally bring:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes in a production environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem‐solving skills and high level of CAD competency.
Experience in production line design, layout optimisation, and capacity planning.
The ability to lead projects and influence stakeholders across multiple teams.
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly regarded:
Optics and fibre‐optic technologies
Precision mechanical assembly
Automation and robotics
ESD‐controlled and cleanroom environments
At Finisar, you'll have the opportunity to work at the forefront of advanced manufacturing while contributing directly to the development of innovative products and manufacturing technologies.
We offer:
Competitive salary and company bonus opportunities
Relocation assistance for suitable candidates
Employee Stock Purchase Program
Ongoing learning and professional development opportunities
A collaborative, down‐to‐earth, and highly capable engineering environment
If you're looking for a role that combines engineering creativity, hands‐on problem‐solving, automation, and continuous improvement, we'd love to hear from you.
