Penrith Early Learning Centre – Penrith NSWPenrith Early Learning Centre is seeking a talented and passionate Centre Cook to join our team on a part‐time basis.
This role is based in Penrith NSW **** and is fundamental to the wellbeing and development of the children in our care.
As Centre Cook, you will be responsible for planning, preparing and delivering nutritious, balanced meals and snacks that meet the dietary needs and preferences of all children attending our centre.
This is a hands‐on position that plays a vital role in supporting children's health, growth and learning through quality nutrition.Key responsibilitiesPlan and prepare nutritious, age‐appropriate meals and snacks in accordance with Australian Dietary Guidelines and childcare nutrition standardsMaintain accurate records of menus, ingredients, allergen information and dietary requirements for all childrenManage food ordering, stock control and inventory to ensure cost‐effective operations and minimal food wastePrepare meals that cater to various dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, cultural preferences and special needsMaintain strict food safety and hygiene standards, including proper food storage, handling and preparation techniquesKeep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant with health and safety regulationsWork collaboratively with educators to understand individual children's nutritional needs and preferencesCommunicate effectively with parents regarding meal planning and any dietary concernsEnsure compliance with relevant food safety legislation and centre policiesSupport sustainability practices within the kitchen and centre operationsWhat we're looking forCertificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification and experience in a childcare or education food service environmentSound knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements, particularly for young children from birth to school ageUnderstanding of food allergies, intolerances and cultural dietary practicesCurrent Food Safety Supervisor certification or ability to obtain this within three monthsDemonstrated experience in batch cooking and meal planning for groupsStrong knowledge of food hygiene, safety and storage standardsAbility to manage budgets and control food costs effectivelyExcellent organisational and time management skillsStrong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with educators and familiesCurrent Working with Children Check (WWCC) or ability to obtain one prior to commencementA genuine passion for supporting children's health and wellbeing through quality nutritionWhat we offerCompetitive part‐time employment with flexible scheduling to suit your needsA team-oriented team environment where your contributions are valued and recognisedOpportunities for professional development and access to training in childcare and nutritionA workplace that prioritises the wellbeing of staff and childrenA chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children and their familiesA supportive centre culture that embraces inclusivity and respects diversityAbout usPenrith Early Learning Centre is a dedicated childcare provider serving families in the Penrith community.
