As the Corporate Governance Paralegal, you'll support the organisation's Board, Committees and legal function by coordinating governance processes, managing statutory obligations and maintaining critical corporate records.
This is a two-year fixed-term opportunity to play a key role in supporting the organisation's governance and legal functions.Working closely with the Company Secretary and General Counsel, you'll be trusted with confidential, business-critical matters and play an integral role in ensuring governance excellence across the organisation.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a governance professional who enjoys variety, responsibility and the chance to make a meaningful impact.Duties will include but not limited to:Maintaining corporate registers, statutory records and regulatory lodgements.Supporting Board, Committee and subsidiary governance processes.Preparing agendas, papers, minutes and governance documentation.Administering governance systems and compliance registers.Providing legal matter, litigation and document management support.Coordinating with external legal providers and regulatory bodies.Supporting governance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.Managing sensitive and confidential legal and governance information.What's in it for youBe part of a high-performing team that values collaboration and continuous improvement.Professional development opportunities, including exposure to training systems and compliance frameworks.Competitive remuneration and benefits, with a focus on work-life balance.Hybrid flexible working setting with brand new offices in Fortitude Valley close to the train station.To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:Tertiary study or vocational qualification in law, legal services, governance, business or a related discipline (for example, Certificate IV in Legal Services, Diploma of Paralegal Studies, undergraduate study in law or business, or a Governance Institute of Australia short course),
or equivalent demonstrated experience.A Chartered Secretary or Governance Institute of Australia qualification is desirable but not essential.3+ years' experience in a legal, company secretariat, corporate governance, professional services or in-house legal environment.Familiarity with the Corporations Act, the ASIC Regulatory Portal, corporate registers, statutory lodgements, Board and Committee processes, and Diligent Boards and Diligent Entities (or equivalent platforms) is highly regarded.Experience in the energy, resources, infrastructure or government-owned corporations sectors is highly regarded.Sound awareness of and respect for legal professional privilege and confidentiality, including in the handling of Board, litigation and shareholder material.High attention to detail in the preparation of governance and legal documentation.Sound judgement in dealing with sensitive Board, litigation and shareholder matters.Ability to manage competing time-critical Board, subsidiary, statutory and litigation deadlines.ABOUT USCS Energyis a proudly Queensland-owned and based company that provides competitively-priced and reliable energy to some of our state's biggest industries and employers.
