About the Opportunity
Our client, a prominent Australian Government agency dedicated to supporting people with disability, is seeking experiencedAPS6 Support Need Assessorsto join their team.
This is a meaningful and impactful role where you will contribute to ensuring participants receive fair, high-quality, and person-centered assessments that inform critical support decisions.
Key Responsibilities
As an APS6 Support Need Assessor, you will:
Conduct detailed assessments by engaging with participants, their families, and representatives
Gather, analyse, and interpret complex information to produce accurate, evidence-based reports
Deliver clear, transparent communication across virtual and face-to-face interactions
Apply relevant policies, legislation, and ethical frameworks in all assessment activities
Adopt trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and participant-centered approaches
Collaborate with internal teams to drive consistency, quality outcomes, and service improvements
Maintain accurate records and utilise digital systems effectively and securely
Adapt assessment approaches to meet diverse participant needs
Contribute to a positive team environment, including mentoring and knowledge sharing
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A recognised tertiary qualification inAllied Health or related disciplines, such as:
Occupational Therapy
Physiotherapy
Social Work
Nursing
Counselling (or similar)
Demonstrated experience in conductingsupport needs assessments
Strong commitment toperson-centered, strengths-based practice
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Well-developed analytical and decision-making capabilities
Sound knowledge ofdisability legislation, policy, and operational frameworks
Proven ability to work sensitively with diverse communities usinginclusive and trauma-informed practice
