Orange Local Aboriginal Land Council – Bathurst NSW We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Family Support Worker to join our women and children's refuge in Bathurst.
35hrs per week, rotating morning and afternoon shifts.
This is a hands-on, direct support role working alongside caseworkers and child and youth specialists to support women and children experiencing domestic and family violence and homelessness.
You will play a key role in creating a secure, structured, and supportive environment, assisting families with daily routines, emotional wellbeing, and stability while they are residing in the refuge.

You will play a key role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment, assisting families with daily routines, emotional wellbeing, and stability while they are residing in the refuge.




Key Responsibilities Provide practical and emotional support to women and children Assist families to establish daily routines and structure Support mothers with parenting and responding to children's needs Deliver age-appropriate activities to support children's wellbeing and development Promote positive mother–child relationships and attachment Respond to crisis situations using trauma-informed approaches Maintain a safe, calm, and secure environment Provide transport and practical assistance where required Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team About You You are supportive, calm under pressure, and passionate about working with families.
You understand the complexities of domestic and family violence and are committed to culturally safe practice.
To be successful, you will have: Understanding of family and domestic violence and its impact Experience (or strong capability) working in crisis, residential, or support environments Knowledge of trauma-informed and child-safe practices Ability to engage and support children through play and routine Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality Commitment to culturally respectful and inclusive practice What We Offer Prospect to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women and children Supportive team environment Ongoing training and career development Culturally safe and community-focused workplace
