This 12-month Nurse Internship Program is an exciting opportunity to join our team and further develop your veterinary nursing knowledge in a referral and emergency care setting.
The program is designed for nurses with approximately 1-2 years of veterinary nursing experience and aims to build on existing foundational skills, rather than serve as an introductory nursing program.
The Nurse Internship Program is designed to:
Provide insight into a multidisciplinary referral and emergency hospital environment through on-the-job training supported by theory-based learning
Strengthen your existing knowledge and skill set while developing a deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities within a specialist hospital setting
Support your transition from supervised to independent specialist nursing practice
Prepare you for future opportunities for full-time or part-time employment within a specialist hospital environment

The Nurse Internship Program is designed to:

Support your transition from supervised to independent specialist nursing practice
Prepare you for future opportunities for full-time or part-time employment within a specialist hospital setting
Throughout the program, you will rotate through clinical shifts across our Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Room, and Hospital Care wards.
You will care for patients managed by our specialist teams, including Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Critical Care, and Anaesthesia, while developing your skills in triage and stabilisation within our emergency service.These rotations are designed to challenge you, broaden your clinical experience, and support your ongoing development as a veterinary nurse.
You will collaborate with a supportive team of experienced nurses, specialised nurses,



and veterinary specialists who are committed to helping you grow and succeed.
You will have the opportunity to work closely with Veterinary Technician Specialists in Emergency and Critical Care, who will provide mentorship and support your training throughout the year.
In addition, our Veterinary Technician Specialist in Anaesthesia will support further learning opportunities and help broaden your clinical development

To be considered for this role, candidates must demonstrate:
Hold a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, Diploma of Veterinary Nursing, or Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing
Approximately 1-2 years of veterinary nursing experience
Demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and creative problem-solving skills
Have a positive attitude and a willingness to develop new skills
Be competent in core nursing skills
This is a 12-month position that includes rotating shifts, weekends, after-hours work, and public holidays.
Upon completion of the program, some nurses may be considered for permanent roles within one of our departments, subject to availability.
