We specialise in Education, Aged Care & Retirement Living, Social and Government Housing, Government, Industrial, Corporate and Retail projects up to $20m.
Our business is experiencing significant, controlled growth, built on strong client relationships and a reputation for delivering quality outcomes.
Due to growth and a strong pipeline, we are now seeking a Pre-Construction Coordinator/Design Manager to join our Pre-Construction team.
This role will suit someone highly organised and detail-focused, who is confident coordinating design-phase deliverables, budgets and stakeholders across the full pre-construction lifecycle.
About the Role
The Pre-Construction Coordinator/Design Manager supports the pre-construction team across the full project lifecycle – from early Design Development through GMP/final estimate and handover to operations – with a focus on Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), tenders, constructability and budget development.
Reporting to our Pre-Construction Manager you'll work closely with our Sales, Bid Coordinator and Estimating teams, focusing on design-phase coordination, cost tracking and pre-construction deliverables.
As a Pre-Construction Coordinator/Design Manager at RCG, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting ECI and tender design-assist engagements from schematic design through construction documents
Developing methodologies and programmes for ECIs and tenders, and coordinating constructability reviews to identify cost, schedule or sequencing issues early
Tracking design milestones and ensuring the pre-construction team has current drawings and specifications at each phase
Assisting estimators in building and updating conceptual, schematic and GMP-level budgets,
and tracking cost trends between phases
Documenting design decisions, alternates and value engineering options as the design evolves
Coordinating with design-assist trade partners engaged during ECI phases
Preparing materials for owner/architect pre-construction meetings, including budget updates, schedule impacts and open items logs
Handing over programmes, methodologies and design-phase context (scope clarifications, VE decisions) to the Bid Coordinator and Estimating team to support accurate bid packaging
Maintaining project drawings, specifications, RFIs and historical cost/lessons-learned data
Scheduling and chairing design/ECI meetings and site visits, and preparing minutes and action item logs
Supporting a smooth handover of project information from pre-construction to the project management team
Maintaining pre-construction files, ECI templates and phase-gate checklists, and reporting to leadership on active pursuits
What We're Looking For
Key requirements:
3-5 years' experience in construction, design or contract administration
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly MS Project and Excel) and Bluebeam
Understanding of design phases and how they relate to cost development
Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail
Clear written and verbal communication, comfortable liaising with clients, consultants and subcontractors
A collaborative, proactive approach - comfortable in ambiguous, early-stage project environments and confident chairing meetings with stakeholders
Why Join RCG?
Great team culture and collaborative setting
Quarterly team events and business updates
Friday lunches at our Sydney office
Annual harbour cruise and other social events
Exposure to diverse projects across NSW and Victoria
Opportunities for professional development and long-term career growth
A competitive salary package will be offered, based on skills and experience.
