This is a key editorial leadership role responsible for guiding on‐platform and off‐platform producers, driving strong digital performance and ensuring our content reaches and engages audiences across all digital channels.The role requires a strong understanding of digital news publishing, audience behaviour and the needs of a NSW audience, with a clear focus on delivering timely, compelling and high‐performing content.Working at the centre of a quick‐paced newsroom, the Digital Editor will play a critical role in shaping how stories are presented, prioritised and distributed throughout the day.
The successful candidate will combine sharp news judgement with strong digital production skills, leadership capability and a deep understanding of what resonates with local audiences.Key responsibilitiesLead on‐platform and off‐platform producers across The Daily Telegraph's digital news operationOversee the presentation, placement and distribution of content across the masthead's digital channelsDrive digital publishing decisions that maximise audience reach, engagement and subscriber valueEnsure content is tailored to the needs and interests of a NSW audienceWork closely with newsroom leaders, editors and reporters to identify priority stories and digital opportunitiesOptimise headlines, story packaging, homepages, article promotion and channel distributionMaintain a strong focus on breaking news, live coverage and major audience momentsUse audience data, performance insights and editorial judgement to inform publishing strategyEnsure a consistent, high‐quality user experience across digital touchpointsLead and develop a team of producers in a fast‐moving, deadline‐driven environmentWho are you?
At least five years' experience managing content on news websitesStrong experience in digital news production, publishing and audience‐focused content strategyProven ability to lead teams and manage digital workflows in a breaking news environmentStrong understanding of NSW news, issues and audience interestsExcellent news judgement and a strong instinct for digital story presentation and promotionExperience using analytics and performance data to improve content outcomesStrong communication,
