Job Type: Permanent position | Full time positionJob DescriptionSHR Joinery The Cabinet Maker manufactures, assembles and prepares custom cabinetry and fitted units for residential and commercial construction projects.
Based primarily in SHR Joinery's Yennora workshop, the Cabinet Maker works from architectural drawings, shop drawings, cutting lists and project specifications to manufacture kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, wardrobes, counters, storage units and other custom fittings from timber, laminates, veneers and engineered board products.The position involves setting out and preparing materials, operating cabinet-making machinery, assembling cabinet components, fitting hardware and inspecting completed units before delivery and installation.
The Cabinet Maker may also attend client sites to install, adjust or complete cabinetry as required.
This is a hands-on trade position requiring accuracy, sound knowledge of cabinet construction methods and the ability to produce cabinetry that meets project specifications, quality requirements and workplace health and safety standards.Perks Task & responsibilities Responsibilities Manufacturing and assembling custom cabinetry and fitted units for SHR Joinery's residential, commercial and public infrastructure projects.
Interpreting approved shop drawings, cutting lists, specifications and work orders to determine dimensions, materials, finishes, hardware and construction requirements.
Producing residential cabinetry, including kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, laundry storage, built-in and walk-in wardrobes, home-office units and outdoor kitchen cabinetry.Producing commercial cabinetry and fitted units, including workstations, reception counters, retail displays, shelving, service counters, lockers and specialised storage.
Producing purpose-built cabinetry for aged-care facilities, schools, government offices, healthcare facilities, libraries and sporting venues.
Selecting, measuring and preparing timber, veneers, laminates, MDF, particleboard, plywood, moisture-resistant board and other engineered wood products.Cutting,



machining and assembling cabinet components using appropriate cabinet-making tools, machinery, fasteners, adhesives and construction methods.
Fitting and adjusting cabinet doors, drawers, shelving, handles, hinges, runners, locks and other hardware.
Inspecting completed cabinetry to ensure compliance with approved drawings, dimensional requirements, finishes and quality standards.Preparing completed cabinetry for delivery and installing or adjusting fitted units on project sites where required.
Duties Review shop drawings, cutting lists, work orders and project specifications to determine dimensions, materials, finishes, hardware and construction requirements.
Select and prepare timber, veneers, laminates, MDF, particleboard, plywood and other engineered wood products suitable for each project.Measure, mark, cut and shape cabinet components using hand tools, power tools and cabinet-making machinery.
Operate panel saws, edge banders, routers, drills and other workshop equipment safely and accurately.
Work with CNC-prepared components and computer-generated cutting information where required.Manufacture and assemble kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, laundry cabinetry, wardrobes, home-office units and outdoor kitchen cabinetry.
Produce commercial and public infrastructure cabinetry, including reception counters, workstations, retail displays, shelving, lockers, medical cabinets, classroom storage and other built-in units.
Assemble cabinet carcasses, doors, drawers, shelving, panels and fitted components using appropriate joining and construction methods.Fit and adjust hinges, drawer runners, handles, catches, locks, shelving systems and other cabinet hardware and accessories.




Prepare cabinetry for the integration of appliances, sinks, electrical equipment and other fixtures where specified in the approved drawings.
Inspect completed cabinetry to confirm dimensions, alignment, stability, finish and compliance with drawings and quality requirements.Complete adjustments, repairs and rework where components or completed units do not meet the required specifications.
Label, protect and prepare completed cabinetry for storage, transport and delivery to residential, commercial and public infrastructure projects.
Install, level, secure and adjust cabinetry and other fitted units at project sites when required.Coordinate with workshop supervisors, drafting personnel, installers and other trades to resolve production or installation issues and complete work within project deadlines.Qualification & experience Qualifications and Experience An AQF Certificate III in CabinetMaking, Cabinet Making and Timber Technology, or a closely related qualification; or At least three years of relevant cabinet-making experience where accepted as a substitute for the formal qualification; andAt least 1 year of practical experience in manufacturing and assembling cabinetry for residential or commercial projects.Required Technical Skills Ability to interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, cutting lists and technical specifications.
Knowledge of cabinet construction, assembly and installation methods.Experience working with timber, veneers, laminates, MDF, particleboard, plywood and engineered board products.
Competence in using cabinet-making hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery.
Ability to operate panel saws, edge banders, routers, drills and other relevant machinery.Familiarity with CNC-produced components and digital cutting information.
Ability to install and adjust cabinet hardware, including hinges, drawer runners, handles, shelving and internal accessories.
Accurate measuring, marking, cutting and assembly skills.Understanding of quality-control procedures ...
