New projects and continuous growth mean we have a long-term career opportunity with an industry leader.About the roleWe are seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join our Operations team and support the successful commercial and financial delivery of our project based in Cooma, New South Wales.
This is a FIFO role working a 14 days on / 7 days off roster.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role will be responsible for administering and controlling project costs, supporting monthly reporting and forecasting, and ensuring supplier and subcontract agreements are financially reviewed and managed in line with company requirements.Key responsibilitiesCoordinate monthly cost reviews, forecasting and project cost reporting to support accurate and timely commercial decision makingManage revenue and cost reporting, including labour, plant and equipment, suppliers, materials, margins, bill rates and utilisationTrack accruals, spent hours, forecast costs to complete, cash flow and earned value reporting across the project lifecycleCollate, review and ensure the accuracy of head contract, subcontractor and supplier progress claimsSupport the Commercial Manager and project team with contractual correspondence, claims responses, variations and commercial risk managementMaintain accurate financial data, cost reports, procurement registers, contract records and project documentationReview subcontractor and supplier terms and conditions, pricing, progress claims, variations, securities and close-out documentationSupport RFQ,



procurement and tender activities, including commercial evaluations, award recommendations and contract documentationLiaise with project teams, client representatives, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure cost information is captured and communicated effectivelyIdentify project cost risks, opportunities and process improvements while supporting compliance with company policies, delegations and QHSE requirementsAbout youRelevant qualification in Business, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent industry experienceMinimum five years' project financial or cost control experience, ideally across at least two previous project environmentsExperience working in a project delivery environment, with FIFO experience highly regardedStrong cost control, financial reporting, forecasting, cash flow, change management and commercial administration capabilityHighly numerate, analytical and detail focused, with the ability to identify trends, errors, risks and opportunities quicklyAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills, with exposure to Sage X3 ERP or similar systems desirableGood understanding of project scheduling and the relationship between schedule, cost, productivity and commercial outcomesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and commercial documentationStrong negotiation, influencing, problem-solving, planning and stakeholder management skillsA proactive, resilient and collaborative approach, with a strong focus on safety, quality, compliance and continuous improvementSpiecapag Australia is an equal chance employer and encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply.Applications will only be considered for candidates who currently live within Australia and have currently approved visa working rights (permanent, temporary, student, spousal, etc) to Australia.
