Day Hospital Partners Holdco Pty Ltd – Maroochydore QLDThe Solace Clinic is a newly established, licensed day hospital on the Sunshine Coast, providing specialist care for patients with haematology, medical oncology, and hepatology conditions.
We have a purpose-built commercial kitchen onsite, and we're looking for a skilled cook or chef to take ownership of our catering function and help us serve genuinely good food, every day.The RoleYou'll prepare and present fresh food daily, including baked goods, hot meals, sandwiches, wraps, and snacks, with a focus on quality, nutrition, and presentation that reflects the care our patients deserve.
You'll serve morning tea and lunch directly to patients in the treatment area, with afternoon tea prepared and left ready for nursing staff to serve.
Friendly, attentive communication with patients and their carers is an key part of this role; it's not just about the food, but how it's delivered.
You'll also plan and write menus, manage ordering of food and kitchen supplies, and keep the kitchen clean and tidy, using our commercial dishwasher for crockery and equipment.This is a part-time role, approximately 8:00am to 1:30pm, Monday to Friday.
We're open to one person covering the full week, or two part-time people splitting the days between them.What You'll DoCook and bake a range of fresh items including hot meals, baked goods, sandwiches, wraps,
and snacksServe morning tea and lunch to patients; prepare afternoon tea for nursing staff to serveCommunicate warmly and attentively with patients and their carers as part of daily servicePlan and write menus, with accurate calorie counts and relevant nutritional informationOrder and manage food and kitchen supplies, keeping stock at appropriate levelsMaintain a clean, organised kitchen, including loading/unloading the commercial dishwasher and general clean-upWork both independently and alongside clinical and admin staffWhat We're Looking ForFood Safety Supervisor Certificate, Levels 1 and 2 (essential)Solid cooking and baking skills, with the confidence to plan and execute a menu from scratchExperience in a healthcare, aged care, or similar environment (highly regarded)Warm, confident communicator, comfortable interacting with patients and carersSomeone who notices when presentation isn't right and fixes it without being askedComfortable working alone and taking initiative when the team is busy elsewhereWhy This Role MattersFor many of our patients, food is one of the few things in their day they can look forward to.
