About the Role
Toll Helicopters is an experienced provider of specialised mission-critical helicopter services and training for Government, Defence and the civil sector.
With extensive experience in operations, training and helicopter maintenance, our staff are some of the most highly experienced and well-trained aviation professionals in the country.
Toll Aviation is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Aircraft Maintenance Engineer / Aircraft Surface Finisher (Spray Painter) to join our Rotary Wing team based at Bankstown Airport.
This is a hands-on role supporting our engineering team across aircraft maintenance, surface finishing, and general hangar operations.
You'll play a critical part in maintaining operational readiness, reducing downtime, and supporting the delivery of key Government & Defence contracts.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (LAMEs) with the execution of maintenance activities in a safe and compliant manner to ensure minimum downtime of aircraft while ensuring do not proceed past inspection check points until inspected by supervisor.
Perform aircraft maintenance tasks as directed on a non-certifying basis
Prepare aircraft surfaces including sanding, masking, stripping, and priming
Apply polyurethane and other aviation-grade coatings to aircraft components and structures
Perform touch-ups, refinishing, and corrosion protection treatments
Conduct maintenance and upkeep of ground support equipment and tooling
Comply with all safety, environmental, and operational procedures and uphold Toll Aviation's values and safety-first culture
About You
Ideal candidate will have:
Mechanical aptitude or hands-on technical skillset
Proven experience in polyurethane spray painting (automotive, marine, or aviation)
Aviation or aircraft maintenance exposure and experience
Demonstrated ability to use initiative, prioritise and work to tight timeframes with limited supervision
Certificate III or IV in Aircraft Surface Finishing
Strong understanding of Work Health & Safety practices
Full working rights in Australia
Experience working in a regulated or safety-critical environment
Basic computer skills
Cert II IV in Aeroskills
Personal Attributes
Well-organised with the ability to prioritise tasks
Capable of working both independently and within a team
Positive, proactive, and safety-focused mindset
Adaptable with a can-do-safely attitude
Able to build strong working relationships across the team
