Trainer & Assessor – Construction Business ManagementBlue Dog Training is seeking an experienced and motivated Trainer & Assessor to deliver the QBCC Approved Managerial Course.
This is a fantastic opportunity to step off the tools while remaining closely connected to the construction industry, working alongside a highly experienced team of trainers who are all passionate tradespeople.You'll be joining an established and supportive RTO where your industry experience will play a key role in developing the next generation of Queensland builders and construction professionals.In this role, you will deliver engaging online training and provide end-to-end assessment support across the 11 key competency areas of the QBCC Managerial Course.
The position combines supporting training delivery, mentoring, assessment marking, and regulatory guidance to ensure students successfully meet licensing requirements and gain the confidence to operate within the Queensland construction industry.Key Responsibilities:Training DeliveryIndependently manage a cohort of students, including onboarding, regular check-ins, and ongoing supportRespond to student enquiries via phone and email in a timely, professional mannerTranslate complex regulatory and business concepts into practical, trade-relevant learningSupport and deliver training activities, with future scope for live, real-time sessionsAssessment SupportGuide students through assignments and course requirementsAssess written, video, and scenario-based submissionsProvide explicit, constructive feedback to support learner progress and completionParticipate in verbal and scenario-based assessment activities,
including negotiation exercisesSubject Matter ExpertiseProvide guidance on QBCC licensing, contracts, and Queensland construction legislationSupport understanding of compliance, workplace health and safety, and regulatory standardsStudent Support & ComplianceAct as the primary student contact throughout the learning journeyMentor learners to improve engagement and completion outcomesMaintain accurate RTO-compliant recordsEnsure all assessment evidence is correctly documented and audit-readyAbout You:You are an experienced construction industry professional who enjoys sharing knowledge, mentoring others, and helping people succeed.
You can confidently translate technical, legal, and compliance requirements into clear, practical guidance for trade-based learners.You will bring:Strong background in the Queensland construction or trade industryPractical understanding of QBCC licensing requirements and regulatory frameworksKnowledge of construction contracts, compliance, and workplace health and safety standardsIdeally experience as a site supervisor, foreperson, project manager, or qualified tradesperson ready to move into trainingCertificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE***** or equivalent, or willingness to obtain)Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex conceptsA supportive, patient, and mentoring-focused approach to adult learningWhat's on offer:Attractive salary range between $85,000-$90,000 plus superannuationJoin a highly experienced and collaborative team of trainersOpportunity to move off the tools while staying connected to the tradeFlexible work locations: Milton, Ipswich, or Arundel9-day fortnight working arrangementMeaningful work helping shape the next generation of construction professionals
