The Hive has led place-based, Collective Impact work for 10 years in Mt Druitt, with the vision of seeing all children in Mt Druitt start school well.
The Hive's small and passionate team works closely with and brings together the community, services, government and businesses to address locally identified priorities, develop innovative solutions and address the high levels of developmental vulnerability in children in Mt Druitt aged 0-5 years old.
Together in ****: Creating Change Together
The Hive is the Backbone for Together in **** – a collective of place-based organisations dedicated to creating the conditions for change in Mt Druitt, with a deep focus across Lethbridge Park, Willmot, Bidwill, and Tregear.
At the heart of our work together are the concerns and aspirations of the community.
We embrace an ecological, holistic, and child-centred approach, guided by our commitment to being trustworthy, relational, and working in solidarity with community members to address place-based disadvantage.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an individual with experience in community engagement, collaboration and stakeholder engagement to support the ongoing development and strength of the Together in **** collective.
Working alongside the Hive Backbone Team and members of the Together in **** collective, this person will help build strong relationships across community, support collective decision-making and governance processes, and create opportunities for meaningful community participation.
They will play a key role in strengthening connections between community members, organisations and partners to help advance our shared vision and collective impact goals.
This role requires a strong ability to foster collaboration between organisations and a commitment to authentic relationship-building and community-led practice.
The successful candidate will support ongoing community engagement and participation while helping coordinate the structures and processes that enable collective action.
We are seeking someone who is adaptable, values-driven and skilled at bringing people together, with the ability to model and foster the collaborative ways of working that underpin what it means to be "Together in ****".
The role will also support the development of new partnerships and help grow our network of collaborators, strengthening our collective capacity and amplifying our impact as we work towards a Mt Druitt community where all children, young people and families can flourish.
In this role, you will:
Work with The Community Development Lead and the Hive team to design and deliver a community engagement and collaborative governance strategy
Build relationships with local First Nations community and apply a culturally inclusive approach to working with First Nations people
Facilitate and coordinate collective meetings, working groups, and community gatherings, ensuring inclusive participation and effective follow-through on actions.
Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Together in ****'s governance, decision-making, and accountability processes.
Develop and maintain partnerships with local organisations, services, government agencies, and community leaders to strengthen collective impact outcomes.
Monitor, document, and communicate community engagement activities, outcomes, and learnings to inform planning, evaluation, and shared decision-making.
Identify and cultivate opportunities for new partnerships, and collaboration that strengthen the capacity and reach of the Together in **** collective.
ABOUT YOU
We are seeking a Collaboration and Engagement Coordinator with strong experience working in communities experiencing place-based disadvantage.
You will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, along with a strong capacity to build relationships and foster collaboration, using an authentic, consensus-driven approach.
You will have the knowledge and skills to work intuitively with communities, including First Nations peoples, using a trauma-informed and reflective approach underpinned by justice and equity.
You will have demonstrated experience in creative, participatory, community-led approaches to place-based work.
You enjoy walking alongside community members to build trust and develop their capacity for community leadership.
You are creative, innovative, and able to work independently, take initiative, and connect with people from all walks of life.
You are a strategic thinker who enjoys taking on new projects that require a high level of organisation and coordination.
