If you are completing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry or Chemistry and are keen to apply your knowledge in a real world research and operational environment, the ANSTO Minerals Year in Industry Internship Program offers a unique opportunity to build practical experience alongside leading scientists and engineers.Designed for penultimate-year students, this 12 month full-time program provides hands‐on, industry‐based learning.
You will apply your academic knowledge in a professional setting while developing technical and workplace skills that will enhance the value of your remaining studies and future career.Important: This is a full-time placement, and participants are required to defer their university studies for the duration of the program.Your PlacementAs an intern within ANSTO Minerals, you will contribute to bench and pilot‐scale process development activities.
This may include:Conducting bench and pilot‐scale test workDesigning, setting up,



and operating laboratory and pilot equipmentPerforming sampling and chemical analysisAssessing data and preparing preliminary reports andCollaborating with multidisciplinary teams.About YouWe are seeking students who demonstrate:A genuine interest in a hands‐on research and development environment within the minerals industryStrong communication and interpersonal skillsA proactive approach to learning and applying technical knowledgeA clear commitment to safetyEligibility & ApplicationPreferred fields of study:Chemical EngineeringIndustrial ChemistryChemistryTo be eligible, you must:Be an Australian citizenBe able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance and pass a pre‐employment medical assessmentBe currently enrolled in a relevant degree, ideally in their penultimate year with at least one full year of study remainingBe available to understand a full-time, 12-month placement and commit to deferring university studies for the duration of the programHave experience in a university or industry laboratory, or have undertaken chemistry / chemical engineering‐related projectsHave hands‐on experience within a process or mechanical setting (desirable)Hold a current driver's licence and have access to a vehicle (desirable)About UsANSTO leverages great science to deliver big outcomes.
