That's why we're creating a new way to manage waste and recover resources – diverting more than 97% of material currently sent to landfill.Owned by the City of Gold Coast, ARRC's proposed $1.6 billion precinct is set to become one of the world's first planned waste and energy precincts.Progressively rolling out during the next six years, our initial focus is three integrated but distinct facilities – ARRC Organics, ARRC Recycling and ARRC Energy.
The three facilities will process the waste from your green, yellow and red bins respectively.
In fact, ARRC Organics in Yatala is already doing just that, turning garden waste from your green bin into nutrient-rich compost.ARRC is also developing a circular economy innovation park (ARRC Innovation) and community hub (ARRC Hub) as well as looking at opportunities to decarbonise the City's vehicles through ARRC Hydrogen.The opportunitySuited to a former journalist or experienced corporate communications professional, the Communications Lead strengthens ARRC's visibility, reputation and community trust across industry, media, socials, government and the broader public.This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for producing high-quality communications across multiple channels – from media releases and executive speeches to social media content and community-facing materials.
This role contributes to proactive communication that reduces risk, supports positive community relationships and prevents issues from escalating.Working closely with the Head of Community & Reputation, this position plays a key part in maintaining calm, clarity and consistency across all communication channels.
It supports ARRC's ambitious, can-do culture – bringing curiosity, creativity and follow-through to a team shaping Australia's circular economy future.Your key responsibilities – make your markCommunications and contentDraft and coordinate media releases, speeches, briefings, newsletters, reports and stakeholder communicationsIdentify story opportunities and support proactive media engagementIdentify emerging issues and support effective communication responsesDigital and brandManage and update ARRC's website and social media platformsCreate, schedule and manage social media content across relevant platformsProduce digital content including video, stories and posts that connect with our community and raise awareness about ARRC initiativesSupport marketing campaigns and brand awareness initiativesStakeholder and community engagementSupport the planning and delivery of community engagement activities, events and consultationsAssist the broader Community & Reputation team with stakeholder communications, materials and coordination.Administration, reporting and governance supportMaintain communication records,
content libraries and digital assetsAssist with reporting and performance trackingEnsure compliance with relevant policies and legislationWhat we're looking forTertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or a related discipline.Minimum five years' experience in senior corporate affairs, media, community management or related rolesProven experience developing and delivering large-scale engagement strategies across government, community or environmental sectorsDemonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, including negotiation and conflict resolutionExperience preparing executive reports, communication strategies and high-level briefing papersStrong understanding of Queensland community engagement frameworks and relevant legislation.Experience in government, infrastructure or environmental sectorsSkills in graphic design, photography, videography and/or video editing.Personal attributesStrategic and solutions-focused with strong emotional intelligenceA clear, confident and thoughtful communicator with solid attention to detailCurious and motivated, with a genuine interest in sustainability and community impactHighly organised, adaptable and capable of managing competing prioritiesCollaborative, creative and respectful – someone who contributes positively to team culture.Why ARRC Gold Coast?
