Workers Compensation Liability Reviewer – Psychological Injury Claims | NSW Government
Join NSW Government as an Eligibility Dispute Review Specialist and play a central role in the integrity of the NSW workers compensation scheme.
You'll conduct detailed liability reviews on disputed psychological injury claims and produce well-reasoned, legislation-aligned determinations that directly impact injured workers and employers across NSW.
What you'll be doing
Conducting detailed reviews of disputed psychological injury claims, assessing liability and eligibility against workers compensation legislation and case law
Producing well-documented, defensible and legislation-aligned determinations
Applying industrial relations knowledge to claims involving bullying, harassment, work demands and psychological injury causation
Maintaining accurate records of review outcomes, decisions and stakeholder interactions
Supporting claims managers, case managers and legal teams to achieve positive outcomes
Identifying trends and systemic issues, and contributing to process improvement
Communicating determinations clearly and professionally to claimants, employers and other stakeholders
Staying current with workers compensation legislation, Fair Work frameworks and case law

What you'll bring
Minimum 4 years' experience in NSW workers compensation, Fair Work or industrial relations matters
Demonstrated ability to apply industrial relations frameworks to complex scenarios involving bullying, harassment, work demands or psychological injury
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess competing evidence and produce clear written determinations
Experience maintaining accurate records of complex decisions and stakeholder interactions
Experience working within a regulatory, insurance, legal or government workplace
Legal qualifications (admission as a solicitor) advantageous but not mandatory
Familiarity with Nominal Insurer scheme highly regarded
