The Opportunity
To support our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Workshop Mechanic to join our team.
This role will assist in diagnostic proficiency, engine and transmission repair, troubleshooting & fault finding, hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance, while minimising downtime of our fleet assets.
We are searching for Workshop Mechanic for an ongoing role in our Weipa depot, offering an exciting opportunity for local residents.
FIFO opportunities from Cairns only.
About the Role
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you'll be responsible for servicing, diagnosing and repairing our diverse hire fleet to ensure it remains safe, reliable and ready for hire.
This role is primarily workshop-based, with occasional field service supporting all stakeholders across our projects.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults across a broad range of hire equipment and 4x4 vehicles
Performing preventative maintenance, servicing and major repairs to minimise downtime.
Perform end-to-end electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnostics on light vehicles (4x4s), heavy transport assets, plant/machinery (excavators, graders, rollers), fixed/mobile diesel generators, and variable project equipment.
Respond to equipment breakdowns in the workshop and on customer sites as directed
Accurately document all labour hours, parts utilized, and comprehensive diagnostic findings within thedigital Maintenance Management System.
Track workshop inventory levels and log upcoming consumables requirements.
Ensure all work is completed safely and complies with workplace health and safety requirements
Maintain strict workspace cleanliness, tool calibration, and hazardous waste management safety protocols.
What you will bring.
Heavy Vehicle Mobile Equipment Trade Certificate (AUR***** / AUR*****) or equivalent Light Vehicle/Diesel Fitter Trade Qualification.
