As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you serve as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment.
You'll use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues.
Your responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems such as electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
Additionally, you'll coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.

About the Role: Customer Engineer
As a Customer Engineer, you will act as the key interface between Applied Materials and our customers, supporting advanced semiconductor equipment in a fast‐paced manufacturing environment.
You will install, maintain, and troubleshoot complex systems while ensuring optimal equipment performance and customer satisfaction.
This role involves hands‐on technical work in a semiconductor fab and requires shift work (including night shifts, weekends) and on‐call support depending on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Perform installation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of semiconductor equipment
Diagnose technical issues using analytical tools and standard diagnostic techniques
Maintain and repair systems including electrical, mechanical, vacuum, plasma, and gas systems
Respond to equipment issues and support escalation processes with cross‐functional teams
Ensure system performance, quality, and uptime
Follow standard procedures, safety guidelines, and engineering best practices
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs
Communicate and coordinate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related fields)
Strong interest in hands‐on technical work.
No prior semiconductor experience required — training will be provided
Problem‐solving mindset with troubleshooting skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Proficiency in English required; Mandarin is a plus and preferred
Flexibility to support shift schedules (including night shifts / weekends / on‐call)
Willingness to work in a semiconductor fab environment
Willingness to relocate and work in Taiwan
