Restaurant & Bar Operator | Profit Share | Run It Like It's Your Own
Have you always dreamed of owning your own bar or restaurant... but the cost of buying one has kept that dream out of reach?
This could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
We're not looking for another Venue Manager.
We're not looking for someone who simply wants to clock on, manage a roster, and collect a pay cheque.
We're looking for an entrepreneurial hospitality professional who has spent years thinking...
"If I ever had my own place, I'd do it differently."
This is your chance.
The Opportunity
Three years ago, we took over one of Sydney's most unique sporting and community venues and transformed its operations.
Now we're ready for the next chapter.
We're looking for the right person (or couple) to take ownership of our bar and restaurant operations and build them into one of the Northern Beaches' favourite hospitality destinations.
You'll have the freedom to lead.
The authority to make decisions.
The opportunity to grow profits.
And you'll share directly in the success you create.
No capital investment.
No buying a business.
No taking on massive debt.
Just the prospect to build something exceptional—with the infrastructure already in place.
AND we pay at or above Award Rates for all staff and always on time.
What Makes This Different?
Unlike most hospitality management roles, you won't inherit an empty space with no support.
We've already invested years to create your launching pad:
Fully licensed bar and restaurant
Commercial kitchen
Indoor and outdoor dining
Seating for approximately 100 guests
An established customer base
Professional website and branding
POS and booking systems
Existing suppliers
Staff and operational systems
Accounting, payroll and HR support
Marketing systems
Social media
Graphic design
Email marketing
Business mentoring
AI-powered marketing tools
Proven operating processes
In short...
We've solved most of the difficult infrastructure problems.
Now we need someone who knows how to turn a good venue into a great hospitality business that people want to come back to with their friends and family.
About The Venue
The Racquet Club forms part of an established multi-sport facility on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
Our venue offers more than just a kitchen – it's a busy, established hub with a built-in customer base.
We have around 200 gym members and 200 squash members who regularly visit, and we average 3,500 facility entries per month.
The space is ideal for dine-in and takeaway, with seating for approximately 50 seated patrons and up to 120 standing for cocktails or events.
We also run weekly food specials, live music nights, club holiday events (Easter, Mother's Day etc), "Squash & Sip" events, private functions, and more, providing opportunities to showcase your food and attract new customers.
This means you're stepping into a venue where the foot traffic, community engagement, and event-driven business are already in place - giving you a strong foundation to grow your food offering and bring your ideas to life.
Open seven days per week, the venue includes:
Bar
Restaurant
Commercial kitchen
Function space: milestone birthday celebrations, sporting presentations, corporate events, Christmas parties, community fundraisers, junior presentations, trivia, local business networking, themed dining nights, beer tastings and much more
Kids parties, holiday camps
Live sport
Live entertainment
Licensed venue
Gym
Squash facilities adapted to multiple sports including
Table Tennis
Pickleball
Badminton
Volleyball
Basketball
Ample parking
Long-term lease
Our vision is simple.
To create one of the Northern Beaches' leading community hospitality destinations where families, sporting groups,
friends and local businesses gather to eat, drink and connect.
Your Mission
Your mission is to transform our hospitality offering from somewhere people visit after sport into somewhere people choose as their social community destination.
We already have customers.
We already have systems.
Now we need someone who can elevate the customer experience.
This means:
Developing an outstanding food offering
Expanding healthy menu options
Building profitable events
Growing functions
Creating reasons for locals to keep coming back
Leading and developing a high-performing team
Driving exceptional customer experiences
Continuously improving profitability
If you're someone who constantly sees opportunities instead of problems, you'll love this role.
You Won't Be Micromanaged
You'll have genuine autonomy to:
Recruit and lead your own team
Manage staff performance
Develop your own menus
Source suppliers
Set pricing and launch promotions
Run events
Introduce live entertainment
Develop corporate functions
Grow catering if that's of interest
Build community partnerships
Implement new ideas
We don't want someone asking permission every day.
We want someone who takes ownership and makes things happen.
You'll have genuine autonomy, but with that comes accountability.
We expect decisions to be commercially sound, customer-focused and aligned with our shared vision of building an outstanding community venue.
You'll also never be left to figure everything out alone.
While you'll have autonomy over hospitality, you'll also have owners who genuinely want to see you succeed and who have invested heavily in systems, marketing, technology and long-term growth.
What Success Looks Like
Success isn't measured by hours worked.
It's measured by results.
Imagine walking into the venue on a Friday night.
Every table is full.
Kids are having fun playing nearby while parents stay for another drink.
Live music fills the venue.
Staff know regulars by name.
Functions are booked weeks in advance.
Locals recommend the venue because the food is consistently excellent.
As this business grows, you'll directly share in that success.
This is a fully paid role with a profit-sharing incentive where your total income is directly linked to the value you create.
High-performing operators can realistically earn $100,000-$150,000 annually, with significantly greater upside as the business continues to grow and the right team is built to support expanded hours and service offerings.
Who We're Looking For
You need to have 5-10 years of hospitality experience.
You've likely managed:
Restaurants
Bars
Hotels
Clubs
Pubs
Cafés
Function venues
We're looking for someone (or a couple) who
Leads by example
Earns the respect of their team
Treats customers like friends and family
Enjoys being part of a community rather than running the kitchen.
You'll love this opportunity if you recognise yourself:
Walking into venues and immediately seeing opportunities.
Noticing poor customer experiences before anyone else.
Enjoy mentoring younger staff.
Naturally thinking about commercial opportunities
Caring about margins without sacrificing quality.
You're just as comfortable clearing tables as analysing sales.
You don't need to know everything.
But you do need a solid hospitality base to work from and be hungry to learn what you don't to grow this into more than just a 'job'.
Most importantly...
You need to think like an owner.
Why The Northern Beaches?
Few places offer the lifestyle enjoyed on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
With its affluent communities, strong local economy, active sporting culture and year-round outdoor lifestyle, it's an outstanding location to build a hospitality business that is already an essential part of the local community.
If you've always wanted to combine lifestyle with business ownership, this is a rare prospect.
A Word From The Owners
We believe hospitality is about far more than food and drinks.
It's about creating a place where families linger after sport, friends catch up, kids are welcome and everyone feels welcome.
If you're motivated by building that kind of community, you'll fit right in.
We live onsite and have spent the past three years transforming this sports-centric facility with squash as the primary focus.
Hospitality isn't our specialty.
We've built the facility, the systems and the customer base, but we know exceptional hospitality requires a different skill set.
We can't become hospitality experts ourselves, so we need to partner with someone who already is.
That's why we're looking for someone whose passion and expertise is hospitality.
This needs to be a long-term partnership—not just another management role.
In the surrounding area, there are established Japanese, pizza, and Thai dining options.
Currently, we offer bar-style cuisine (think burgers and schnittys).
This space provides significant opportunity to expand into multiple food and beverage concepts, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and takeaway offerings available seven days a week.
We are a family-friendly community club with strong support from local residents who engage with us through our sporting facilities, gym, hospitality, and entertainment offerings.
Our community connection provides a strong foundation to develop a food and beverage offering that meets the needs of our members, families, and the wider local area.
This Role Is NOT For Everyone
Please don't apply if you:
You're not experienced with several years under your belt.
This is not a learning/internship.
Are looking for a standard wage-based hospitality job
Want someone else making the important decisions
Prefer being told exactly what to do
Avoid accountability and transparency
Don't enjoy working weekends or busy holiday events
Aren't prepared to lead a team from the front, by example
Want a comfortable management position without commercial responsibility
If any or most of these apply to you, you'll hate this role and won't last.
But You'll Love It If...
You've spent years saying...
"One day I'll have run own bar/restaurant."
And...
You have ideas you've never been allowed to implement.
You know you could build something better.
You want genuine autonomy.
You want your effort rewarded.
You want to build something you're proud of.
And you're ready to back yourself.
Your First 12 Months Might Include:
Refreshing the menu
Growing functions and Events
Developing a catering offering
Hiring a high-performing team
Improving customer retention
Strengthening relationships with local community groups
Increasing food and beverage spend per customer
Building a reputation as one of the Northern Beaches' favourite local venues
Ready To Take This Next Big Step?
We know this is a huge decision for you, as it is for us.
We're not looking to hand over the keys and disappear.
We'll continue investing in the venue, providing marketing, business mentoring and backing your great ideas.
You'll lead hospitality.
We'll support the bigger picture.
Together, we'll build something we're all proud of.
We have a multi-step hiring process that should not take you more than an hour in total to complete.
