Laboratory Supervisor - Sunshine Sugar Broadwater MillIn a newly created role, we are seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to join the team at the Broadwater site.
As a Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the laboratory quality activities to ensure the delivery of reliable and accurate analytical data for process control, product quality, customer requirements and environmental compliance.About the roleThe day to day supervision of a small laboratory team, including rostering, leave planning and performance managementEnsuring reliable, timely and accurate analysis and reporting for process control, sugar quality, environmental monitoring and non routine testing, including one weekend day in the crushing seasonPlay a lead role in developing and maintaining Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and requirements of the cane supply and processing contractProviding guidance, training and advice on analytical techniquesAssisting in factory, laboratory, quality and complaints investigations and report where requiredImplement and report on inter mill product exchange program to ensure analytical accuracyMaintaining adequate levels of laboratory suppliesEnsuring analytical equipment is calibrated, maintained and repaired as requiredWe are looking forCommitment and good attitude to safety and cultureRelevant qualifications Cert III Laboratory Techniques or better (tertiary qualifications in chemistry or food technologist highly regarded)Demonstrated experience in laboratory operations in a mid-size food manufacturing business.Robust communication skills and IT fluency (MS Office suite)Demonstrated interpersonal communication skillsCommitment to workplace health and safety, workplace culture and teamworkWillingness to co-operatively work with others in sharing knowledge, expertise and experienceAbility to problem solve, work through solutions to challenges as they ariseAbility to manage priorities and deliver on deadlines whilst managing multiple tasksContinuous improvement mind set and experience implementing CI programs is an advantageAbility to influence others in a positive way to ensure improvements and process changes are acceptedWhy join Sunshine Sugar5 weeks annual leave25% leave loading on 4 weeks9 day fortnight during the maintenance season (January - June)Work in the beautiful Northern Rivers region, only 20 minutes from BallinaJoin a well established Australian owned business that plays a vital role in one of the Northern Rivers' largest agricultural and manufacturing industriesThe successful candidate will be required to complete a pre-employment medical including alcohol and drug screening.About Sunshine SugarWe are an Australian owned sugar milling and refining company operates 3 sugar mills and a refinery in the Northern Rivers region of NSW.
