Department of Justice & Attorney General QLD – Brisbane QLDAs a Lawyer with the Commission's Professional Conduct team, you will assist in the performance of the Commission's functions under the Legal Profession Act ****.The role includes independent and collaborative work to support other lawyers, investigators, regulatory litigators and the Commissioner in discharging regulatory functions, and you will undertake a range of legal work, with key responsibilities requiring the ability to:communicate effectively with and manage the expectations and demands of a wide range of internal and external clients ranging from senior members of the legal profession, through to clients and other members of the public who may have a limited understanding of the legal system and processesassess and advise in relation to complaints about the conduct within the Commission's jurisdiction within performance criteria as set by the Commissionerassess, investigate and review complaints about the conduct of lawyers, law practice employees and unlawful operators, and recommend what action, if any, the Commissioner should take on those complaintsidentify apparent misconduct that is not subject to complaint and recommend that the Commissioner initiate investigation matters as appropriatedischarge other duties as directed from time to time, including:assisting other teams of the Commission, including the Litigation team in relation to preparation of matters,
when operationally requiredrecommending improvements to the Commission's policies, procedures, work practices and management systems to enable the Commission to maintain high standards of service and to continually improvecontributing to the Commission's project, research, policy and educational activitiesYou will:abide by the Australian Solicitor Conduct Rules (as amended from time to time) and display high standards of professional ethical conduct at all times, in addition to any other professional obligationsbe eligible for appointment as an investigator under the Legal Profession Act **** (any such appointment is at the Commissioner's discretion)To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate:proven ability to deliver high quality performance outcomes and customer service, and manage a range of projects with conflicting timeframeshigh level communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with proven ability to develop collaborative relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholdersproven ability to contribute to a team-oriented and positive team culture, and continual improvementcommitment to professional excellence through active ongoing development of your professional, legal, leadership and management skillsunquestionable ethics and integrity.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
