Overview
Are you an experienced policy professional who thrives in a fast-paced advocacy environment?
We're looking for a Lead, Strategic Policy to help shape advocacy positions, influence policy outcomes and represent the interests of Queensland councils across social, economic and environmental priorities.
This role will suit someone who can respond quickly to emerging issues, translate council priorities into practical advocacy outcomes and build robust relationships across government, councils and key stakeholders.

About you
You're a confident and experienced policy professional with strong research, analysis, writing and influencing skills.
You can work strategically, manage competing priorities and provide high-quality advice within short timeframes.
You bring sound judgement, strong stakeholder engagement skills and an interest in achieving practical advocacy outcomes for Queensland councils.
You have knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, contemporary local government issues, including social,



economic and environmental policy challenges, legislative reform, funding and service delivery pressures.

This is a part time contract (0.8 FTE) role until July **** based in Newstead, Qld.
Regular air and road travel is required, including driving a hire vehicle unaccompanied at times.
A current Queensland open driver's licence, with the ability to drive day or night and comply with any licence conditions, is required.
This role will require some out of hours work during periods of peak work load.
