New South Lawyers is seeking a motivated and client-focused Family Lawyer with 2-5 years' post-admission experience to join our expanding Family Law team based in the heart of Parramatta's CBD at the landmark 8 Parramatta Square precinct - one of Australia's most significant urban renewal projects and a premium commercial destination in the centre of Western Sydney.
Positioned directly above Parramatta Station and moments from the new Parramatta Light Rail, River Cat ferry services and major arterial roads including the M4, 8 Parramatta Square offers exceptional convenience and connectivity for professionals travelling from across Sydney.

About the Role:
Under the guidance of New South Lawyers' Directors, you will be given the opportunity to work across a broad range of family law matters while playing an active role within a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
This role offers hands-on exposure to sophisticated and meaningful family law matters, with genuine responsibility, direct client contact and strong mentorship from experienced practitioners.
Matters may include:




Complex property settlements
Parenting disputes and children's matters
Child support assessments and disputes
Multi-party and high-conflict family law proceedings
Divorce applications and hearings
Domestic and family violence matters
Mediation and dispute resolution conferences
Federal Circuit and Family Court proceedings
This is an excellent chance for a motivated lawyer seeking to strengthen their technical skills, advocacy experience and long-term career development within a modern and growing law firm.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will ideally demonstrate:
Two to five years' post-admission experience practising predominantly in Family Law
Strong working knowledge of Federal Circuit and Family Court practice, procedures and rules
Experience managing family law matters with increasing autonomy from commencement through to resolution
Excellent drafting skills, including affidavits, Initiating Applications, Responses, Financial Statements, Consent Orders and correspondence
Confidence liaising directly with clients and managing client expectations with professionalism, empathy and commercial awareness
Strong advocacy and negotiation skills, including experience attending court mentions, mediations, directions hearings and settlement conferences




High level emotional intelligence and the ability to work sensitively and effectively with clients during emotionally challenging matters
Exceptional organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and strict court deadlines
Strong attention to detail and commitment to achieving practical and commercially sound client outcomes
Ability to work independently and autonomously while also contributing positively to team culture
Professionalism, initiative and a proactive approach to problem solving
Strong work ethic and genuine desire to continue developing technically and professionally within family law
Highly Regarded:
Experience in complex parenting and property matters
Advocacy and interim hearing experience
Experience attending mediations and dispute resolution conferences
Familiarity with electronic court filing systems and legal practice management platforms
Existing professional referral networks or business development capability
A genuine interest in long-term career progression within family law and the broader growth of the firm
