Leading Hand / Senior Switchboard Builder
We are looking for an experienced switchboard builder to move into a leading hand role within our workshop.
This is not an entry-level role.
We need someone who already understands switchboard building and can help lead others while still working hands‐on.
This role would suit someone who knows how to build low-voltage switchboards properly and is ready to take on more responsibility.
You will still be working on the tools, but you will also be expected to help organise work, guide other staff, check quality, and keep jobs moving.
About the role
Building and wiring low-voltage electrical switchboards
Reading and working from electrical drawings
Fitting electrical components and switchboard gear
Organising day‐to‐day workshop tasks
Assisting and guiding apprentices, trades assistants, and other staff
Checking work for quality and accuracy
Helping identify issues before they become problems
Working with management to meet project deadlines
Keeping the workshop safe, tidy, and organised




About you
We are looking for someone with:
At least 5 years' experience in switchboard building or a similar electrical workshop environment
Strong practical knowledge of switchboard assembly, busbar fabrication and wiring
The ability to read and understand electrical drawings
Experience with Elsteel and/or Eaton xEnergy systems would be highly valued
Good attention to detail
A reliable, no‐nonsense work ethic
The ability to work with and guide other people
Pride in the quality of your work
Previous leading hand or supervisory experience would be well regarded, but it is not essential if you are ready to take the next step.
