Role Description The Registered Building Inspector role is a full-time, on-site position based in Manifold Heights, VIC.
The inspector will conduct building and site inspections for new and existing structures, assessing compliance with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
Day-to-day tasks include reviewing plans and documentation, inspecting structural and plumbing work, preparing detailed inspection reports, and issuing recommendations or enforcement actions where required.
The role involves liaising with builders, contractors, clients, and local authorities to clarify requirements, address non-compliance, and support timely project progress.
The inspector is expected to maintain accurate records, uphold safety and quality standards, and contribute to continuous improvement of inspection processes.
Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency in Building Inspections and Inspection processes, with an ability to assess compliance across multiple building elements.Experience conducting Site Inspections, including evaluation of construction progress, site safety, and adherence to approved plans.Strong knowledge of Code Enforcement, including interpreting building regulations and applying them in practical inspection scenarios.Working understanding of Plumbing systems relevant to building inspection, including identification of defects and compliance issues.Current registration as a Building Inspector (or equivalent) with the appropriate regulatory authority in Victoria.Understanding of relevant Australian Standards, local council requirements, and state building legislation.Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports and communicate inspection findings to diverse stakeholders.High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently on-site and manage multiple inspections efficiently.Proficiency with basic digital tools for reporting, documentation, and scheduling; willingness to learn current systems as required.Valid driver's license and capacity to travel within the Geelong and Western Melbourne regions as needed.
