Hawkins Transport QLD is looking for a Freight Handler to join our Cairns Depot.
This role supports the safe and efficient handling of general and refrigerated freight bound for regional and remote Queensland communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Loading and unloading freight of various sizes in a safe and compliant manner
Support drivers with deliveries and pick-ups as required
Handle a variety of goods with care, ensuring they are securely packed and protected
Follow all safety procedures and depot protocols
Work efficiently in a quick-paced environment to meet scheduled departure times
Sort and stage freight accurately for designated delivery runs
Ensure all consignments are clearly labelled and supported by the correct con notes
Maintain clean and safe depot grounds and work areas




Follow load plans and instructions from the Depot Supervisor
Assist with general depot duties and customer freight collection when required
What You'll Need:
Current forklift licence with experience loading freight
Sound understanding of WHS and safe manual handling practices
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to schedules
Reliable and physically fit, with the ability to handle freight manually
Able to work rostered shifts and adapt to changing priorities
Previous experience in a transport, freight, or warehouse role is preferred
