How Our Grad Program Will Empower Your Future
We believe that when you choose us for your Graduate role, you are entrusting us with teaching you the core skills that will form the foundation for an amazing career to come.
With this in mind, we've set out a structured, comprehensive 12-month plan:
You will start with a classroom style orientation so you can meet your team, set up your new laptop and our online database and do some pre-reading and training modules
We then take you out to ridealong with your supervisor so you can observe and ask questions (we can do a day of this in your interview process if you haven't had a community placement but want to know if you'll like it)
Your supervisor will then begin shadowing your sessions, letting you take the reins and providing updates so that you'll feel confident when you begin seeing clients independently
Throughout your Graduate Program you will receive different forms of daily and weekly supervision and support varying from one on one time to group in-services
You can access additional training content anytime via our online resource library
You'll attend multi-disciplinary meetings and enjoy opportunities for collaboration as you share clients with other disciplines such as Physio, Psych or Exercise Physiology
One of the best days of the year is our companywide annual training day where the entire business (circa 130) comes together to learn from external presenters tailored each discipline
If you find you're particularly passionate about a certain area, we have pathways to clinical specialisation such as Neuro, dysphagia or AAC for the speechies or home mods, AT or Mental health for the OT's.
Your first year is all about building a solid broad base of clinical knowledge and then we can set new goals with you once you are settled in.
You've worked hard to get to this point so we need have some fun at work too:
To bring us together as a team, we have afun wellbeingprogram that involves monthly social events.
Recently we've gone to mini golf, ten pin bowling, wheelchair basketball + rugby, made dumplings, candles and gingerbread houses, paint & sip, and celebrated key dates such as International Women's Day and mental health month and many others




You will also celebrate your milestones in your Grad program with a Graduate celebration at your 12-month mark
To allow you more time to focus on clinical work you will have someone allocated to you in our admin team to assist with booking client appointments for you.

The Role
As a community- based team, we predominantly see our clients in their homes, group homes, aged care facilities or in a public setting that's relevant for them eg out and about testing new AAC or a new wheelchair.
We want to see our clients where they are most comfortable and that's relevant to their goals.
Some of our team schedule a full day of seeing 3 or 4 clients one day, then balance this the next by working from home or having an office day to write reports, prepare resources, have supervision / training.
Or you can mix things up and split your day depending how you like to work!
A community role is great as it allows you to have genuine flexibility and control over how you structure your days and therefore you don't miss your afternoon sport or having the social life you've sacrificed whilst studying!
You will gain lots of variety in this role as you service a predominantlyadult, NDIS & DVA caseload (12 yrs old and up) living with:
Developmental disabilities (autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, Down syndrome)
Neurological conditions (stroke, acquired brain injury, brain tumour, multiple sclerosis)
Degenerative diseases (Parkinson's disease, MS, motor neurone disease, Huntington's disease, dementia)
In your Grad Program you will be supported to:
Speech:




Conduct various assessments such as Speech, Language or Swallowing
Provide ongoing therapy and mealtime management plans
Gain exposure to clients with a range of speech pathology diagnosis including: non-verbal, dysphagia, dyspraxia, aphasia, pragmatics, voice clients.
OT:
Support clients with a range of tasks such as life skills - budgeting/shopping/travel/ cooking, pressure care, sensory, cognitive re-training, prescribing equipment and assistive tech, upper limb + fine & gross motor therapy plus home assessments and modifications (initially minor and you can receive more training in complex mods)
You'll sharpen your clinical reasoning and get really good at completing comprehensive assessments and reporting eg initials, functional capacity, Home & Living, Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) or Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
Along with having the freedom to work from home, we have clinics in Neutral Bay, Blacktown and Liverpool so you can have a home base to work from.
Depending where you live we'll ensure you see clients in your area and you can also choose to use the office for appointments, to write reports and spend time with your Supervisor and hang out with other new Grads!

Recovery Station provides community and clinic based allied health services, with a strong focus on disability and senior health.
For over20 yearswe have grown and now proudly offer services in the community across Sydney, the Hunter, Central Coast, Tamworth and nationally via telepractice.
Together, our passionate multidisciplinary team of OTs, Mental Health OT's, Psychologists, BSP's, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Dietitians and Allied Health Assistants collaboratively share their knowledge and experience to holistically design an individualised service to help improve the quality of life for people living with a disability or looking to age as independently as possible.
