Metropolitan Memorial Parks is seeking a dedicated and motivated Horticulturist to join our Grounds team at Rookwood General Cemetery site.

The Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Horticulturist to join our Grounds team at Rookwood General Cemetery.
Working Monday to Friday, you will play an important role in maintaining the grounds, gardens and landscaped areas across the site.
Work is carried out in public-facing areas of the cemetery, you may be approached by families, visitors or Funeral Directors from time to time, so a respectful and helpful manner is important.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Performing horticultural tasks including plant identification, turf maintenance, pest and disease control, pruning, hedging and fertilising.
Using a range of motorised garden and grounds maintenance equipment.
Supporting and mentoring team members, including apprentices during their training.
Assisting with general landscape construction activities.
Planting trees, shrubs and annuals in line with planting plans.
Communicating respectfully with Funeral Directors, families and visitors when approached onsite.




Providing support to the Burials and Crematorium teams when required.
About You
The successful candidate will have a mature outlook, a positive "can-do" attitude and the ability to carry out their duties with empathy, professionalism and care.
To be considered, you will have:
Certificate II or III in Horticulture.
White Card, or willingness to obtain.
A passion for working outdoors and the ability to work in all weather conditions.
The ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
A respectful and helpful approach when working in public-facing areas.
Initiative, self-motivation and the ability to contribute to planning and scheduling.
A reliable, punctual and professional approach.
Respect, empathy and robust interpersonal skills.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail.
