Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and commercially drivenBusiness Development Managerto join our NSW team.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities while strengthening relationships with our existing customers.
You will play a key role in expanding our market presence by securing recent projects and developing long-term partnerships across the engineering and construction sectors.
This is an autonomous role suited to someone who enjoys building relationships, creating opportunities and delivering commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop current business opportunities while managing existing customer relationships across NSW.
Build robust relationships with contractors, engineers, project managers and consultants.
Promote Chess Engineering's structural steel fabrication and engineering capabilities.
Identify project opportunities and prepare quotations, tenders and proposals.
Negotiate and secure contracts ranging from small fabrication works through to major infrastructure projects.
Work closely with our estimating, engineering and production teams to develop competitive, value-driven solutions.
Maintain an active sales pipeline, CRM records and market intelligence.
Represent Chess Engineering at client meetings, networking functions and industry events.
About You
1. Proven experience in technical sales and business development within engineering, manufacturing (min 5 years)
2.



A trade related background (steel fabrication, manufacturing, engineering or related trade)
3. A demonstrated track record of achieving sales targets, winning new business and growing key customer accounts.
4. The ability to understand customer requirements and develop practical engineering solutions.
5. A sound understanding of structural steel fabrication or engineered products (highly desirable).
6. Mechanical, structural or technical aptitude with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
7. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage multiple quotations, opportunities and projects simultaneously.
8. Experience using CRM systems to manage customer relationships and sales pipelines.
