We are seeking aBakery Assistantto join the team at Pasticceria Papa inFive Dock, NSW.

As a Bakery Assistant, you will play an essential role in supporting our baking operations, contributing to the production of high-quality pastries, breads and baked goods that form the heart of our growing family business.

Key responsibilities
Assisting with the preparation and mixing of dough, batters and other ingredients according to established recipes and quality standards
Operating bakery equipment, including ovens, mixers and other machinery, ensuring safe and effective use at all times (training will be provided)
Monitoring baking times and temperatures to ensure products are baked to perfection
Decorating and finishing baked goods, including pastries, cakes and breads with attention to detail
Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the bakery, including workstations, equipment and storage areas
Stocking shelves and displays with freshly baked products in an appealing and organised manner
Assisting with inventory management and ordering baking supplies as needed
Supporting the bakery team to meet production targets and deadlines
What we're looking for
Prior experience working in a bakery, pastry kitchen or similar hospitality food preparation environment
A genuine passion for baking and a commitment to producing high-quality baked goods
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
Physical capability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks




Excellent time management skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Reliability and punctuality, particularly as bakery operations often require early morning shifts (2:00am-8:00am)
A positive attitude and strong team spirit, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
Basic food safety and hygiene knowledge, with willingness to maintain or obtain relevant certifications
Great communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
Preferred experience with Italian bakery techniques, pastry production or specialised baking practices would be highly valued
