My Australia Direct My Australia Direct is now accepting applications for Scientific Officers – Multiple Full-Time Opportunities with Sonic Healthcare Services (Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology) Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology (Sonic Healthcare Services) is currently seeking Scientific Officers to join its growing team across multiple laboratory locations.
This is a fulltime position with annual earnings between $70,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation on offer (depending on skills and experience).
Task & Responsibilities
Testing, review, authorisation and reporting of results while prioritizing urgent and medically critical patient samples.
Performing a range of clinical microbiology set up and examinations
Maintenance, Quality Control and Calibration of range of lab equipment and analysers
Notifying urgent and critical results in a timely manner in accordance with procedure.
Performs and participates quality assurance programs for all disciplines.
Receiving, sorting, coding and data entry of requests into the laboratory information system (LIS).




Process specimens according to specific test requirements before analysis or transport to external laboratories.
Accepting or rejecting specimens according to strict guidelines set by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) and testing requirements.
Troubleshooting problems relating to specimens, analysers, quality control, results and customer issues as required
Following safe work practices and laboratory guidelines to minimise the risk of harm or exposure to biological hazards.
Communicating with Doctors, Nurses, Phlebotomists, Healthcare Professionals and Patients.
Qualification & Experience
Relevant diploma qualification or equivalent work experience A minimum of 1 year of employment experience Knowledge of WHS requirements within a laboratory Ability to participate in the weekend and public holidays roster Excellent communication skills Solid customer Service
