Connect Community and Respite Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicatedDisability Support Workerto join our team in Penshurst, NSW.
This is acasual positionthat offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with varying disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence, dignity and quality of life.
This role is fundamental to our mission of delivering person-centred care and support within the community.
What you'll be doing
Providing personal care assistance including bathing, grooming, dressing and toileting support
Supporting clients with mobility and transferring safely using appropriate techniques and equipment
Assisting with meal preparation, feeding and dietary support as required
Accompanying clients to medical appointments, social outings and community activities
Supporting clients with daily living tasks including shopping, housekeeping and laundry
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients and their families based on trust and respect
Maintaining accurate and confidential records of support provided and client wellbeing
Communicating effectively with supervisors, team members and other professionals to ensure coordinated care
Promoting client independence and encouraging participation in chosen activities and community engagement
Responding to client needs with empathy whilst respecting their preferences, choices and dignity
What we're looking for
Certificate III in Disability, Aged Care Support or equivalent qualification, or willingness to obtain this qualification
Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain prior to commencing
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals
Demonstrated compassion,
patience and genuine commitment to supporting people with disabilities
Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks including assisting with mobility and transferring
Reliability and a strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Understanding of disability support principles including person-centred care, rights and dignity
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
Valid Working with Children Check and willingness to obtain a National Police Check if not already held
Prior experience in disability support, aged care or community services is highly valued
Genuine motivation to help people with disabilities achieve their goals and improve their quality of life
