About our business
Cessnock Print Place provides design and print services to clients across the Hunter Valley region, working across in-house digital and wide-format print, outsourced trade print, and finishing.
About the role
This role owns the client relationship on print jobs from first enquiry through to delivery.
You will take briefs, quote jobs, coordinate production (both in-house and outsourced), and keep clients updated every step of the way.
Alongside this, you will do some pre-press design work and, on a smaller scale, jump onto the print floor and finishing equipment as the team needs.
This is a small team, and the role reflects that.
You will spend most of your time on client coordination and quoting, some of your time on basic design, and occasionally lend a hand with print production and finishing.
This role is Full Time, Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Classified under the Graphic Arts, Printing and Publishing Award ****, Level 5.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Quoting (the core of the role)
Take briefs directly from clients, in person, by phone, or by email, and work out what they actually need
Recommend best paper/print solution to customers for their print projects.
Prepare quotes for straightforward jobs, and pull together costings for larger jobs in coordination with the team
Follow up on outstanding quotes, artwork approvals, and proof sign-offs
Liaise with remote staff (designer and admin assistant) on design and print orders,

double checking their output
Keep clients updated on job status, delays, and readiness for collection or delivery
Manage jobs through production, whether in-house or outsourced, to make sure deadlines are met
Check finished jobs for quality before they go out the door
Log job details accurately in our system from the outset
Design (approximately 20% of the role)
Carry out artwork adjustments and pre-press preparation
Complete simple layout jobs
Work primarily in the Adobe Suite; this role does not require senior creative design skills
Print Floor & Finishing (as required)
Use print and finishing equipment, including trimmer, and hole-drill, if and when the team needs extra support (appropriate training will be provided)
Build familiarity with our digital press and wide-format equipment over time
General
Notify management of any concerns with clients or job progress
Self-manage workload to keep jobs on track
Work with the wider team to problem-solve as challenges come up
Type of Person
Organised and process-driven
Good with numbers and spelling
Calm and capable when juggling interruptions in a fast-paced workplace
Comfortable owning a client relationship end to end, not just processing a request
Genuinely flexible; this role is not a narrow lane and will move between coordination, design, and print floor support as needed
Requirements
Experience in a customer service, coordination, or account management role
A degree or formal qualification in graphic design is not required
Print or design experience is a strong asset, not a hard requirement
Comfortable learning new software and systems
