Hardware Engineer - Power Generation & Control Systems

Short-Term Contract Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking an experiencedHardware Engineerto support a major power generation control systems upgrade and modernisation project.
Working within a brownfield operating plant workplace, you will be responsible for the design, engineering, and implementation of hardware solutions supporting distributed control systems (DCS), instrumentation and control (I&C;) systems, and plant automation infrastructure.
This is an opportunity to play a key role throughout the project lifecycle, from detailed engineering and design through to testing, commissioning, and plant start-up activities.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to remain engaged during the commissioning phase, providing continuity and technical expertise as the new system is brought online.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver hardware engineering solutions for power plant automation and control system upgrade projects.
Support brownfield migration and modernisation programs within operating power generation facilities.
Produce and review detailed engineering documentation and design packages.
Design and modify control cubicles, marshalling cabinets, junction boxes, and associated I&C; infrastructure.
Develop and maintain:Signal Lists and Channel Allocation Schedules
General Arrangement (GA) Drawings
Power Supply Schematics
Wiring Diagrams
Loop Diagrams
Termination Diagrams
Network Architecture Drawings
Apply system segregation, redundancy, and spare capacity principles.
Support field instrumentation integration and control loop design.
Prepare installation workscope packages and construction documentation,



including:Cable Pull Sheets
Cable Termination Schedules
Junction Box Modifications
Marshalling Cabinet Modifications
Field Device Installation Packages
Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, cutover, and start-up activities.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards.

Signal & I/O Engineering

I/O rationalisation
KKS tagging systems
Redundancy principles
Segregation principles
Spare capacity planning
Instrumentation & Field Systems Experience with some or all of the following:
Interposing relays
Signal splitters (failsafe and non-failsafe)
Current Transformers (CTs)
Voltage Transformers (VTs)
LVDTs
Speed probes
Vibration monitoring systems
Turbine governor interfaces
Fast I/O applications
Cable and core identification systems
Earthing and shielding requirements




Safety Systems Highly regarded experience with:
Turbine Safety Instrumented Systems (TSIS)
Boiler Safety Instrumented Systems (BSIS)
Functional Safety Management (FSM)
Safety-critical control systems
About You
Degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience within the power generation sector.
Strong hardware engineering and detailed design experience in industrial automation or control systems environments.
Experience delivering DCS, I&C;, or power plant upgrade and migration projects.
Proven capability producing detailed engineering deliverables and construction documentation.
Experience supporting commissioning, testing, plant outages, or start-up activities.
Strong stakeholder engagement and problem‐solving skills.
Ability to work independently within a project delivery environment.
Highly Desirable
Direct experience with Siemens Omnivise T**** / SPPA-T****.
Experience with Siemens S*****H and ET200SP HA platforms.
COMOS (Scorpio) experience.
Coal‐fired power station experience.
Brownfield upgrade or migration project experience.
Knowledge of KKS standards.
Experience transitioning competitor DCS platforms to Siemens-based solutions.
